@Mrs. Jacks: Basically, what she told us is that it sounds like "bump, swish, bump" rather than the normal "bump bump." The cardiologist that she's sending us to has all the echo/EKG stuff right there in the office, so we'll have an answer before we even leave that appointment, which is nice to know.

@littlek: Thank you! I just may do that, depending on what the cardiologist says!

My LO has a murmur that was detected at 2 months. We went to a cardiologist when he was 3 months and it was found to be an "innocent murmur"--basically one that is very soft/small. He did an echo, which LO handled fine. He still has the murmur, but it has no effect whatsoever on his health/activity level/etc. i hope your appt goes well!

If it is a murmur that wasn't heard before, there are a couple of possibilities 1) it's a hole that used to be a big hole and now is closing, so you can now here flow through the smaller hole 2) a benign murmur akin to a bow drawing across violin strings. Usually I can tell this murmur by the quality of the sound and the changes with positioning.

The cardiologist will listen and depending what they hear, might send you for an echo.

Yeah I don't know much about it either other than what I just ready on wiki. Hopefully it is benign and all goes away!!

We had D at his 9-month appointment last night, and the pediatrician heard a heart murmur. We have an appointment with a pediatric cardiologist next week. Anyone have any experience with this? What can we expect? She said it may very well be a benign murmur and to try not to worry too much, but I am freaking out.
