Insane heartburn and reflux that I would wake up choking on in the middle of the night (yuck, I know!)- unfortunately for me no home remedies worked.

I asked the doctor about if it was possible to overdose on Tums, so he put me on Zantac. This worked ok, but still needed a lot more Tums than I should have been taking. Next he tried Prilosec, which has been a miracle for me! I only need it every few days and I feel great and can eat anything.

Bottom line- if it is bad enough, talk with your doctor before taking anything, but they may be able to recommend something else if it is bad enough for you and other remedies don't work. I should have asked sooner, now I'm a functional human being (sort of).

try chia seeds!
"One woman we know uses chia therapeutically to manage her acid reflux. Because of the highly absorbent properties of chia, she can swallow a Tbsp of dry seeds with just a little water and they go into her stomach and absorb the excess acid. She makes sure to drink a glass of water a few minutes later, as the seeds are so hydrophilic that if they do not find enough to absorb in the stomach, they will draw from the tissues instead. By allowing the seeds to first absorb the acid, then drinking some more water, our friend is able to very simply, effectively and cheaply handle her condition. :)

Some natural and safe remedies include cinnamon tea, charcoal capsules, peppermint capsules, chewable papaya supplements, or a 1/4 tsp of bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) dissolved in 1/2 a glass of water.
Also, a spoon full of cider vinegar is supposed to work if your acids are unbalanced. (I tried this and it didn't help, just burned like heck).

I had heartburn for a few weeks during my first trimester, only I didn't know it was heartburn. Whenever I had it, eating cured me of it. Hence, my 20+ pound weight gain in my first trimester. -.-

I'm having heartburn/acid reflux for the first time in my life. It started midway through the second trimester for me. I always keep tums in my purse and that usually helps. It feels like lava is pouring down my throat.

Tums or pepcid didn't cut it for me. I had to take Zantac every evening my last trimester.

i'm like mrs. bee. before pregnancy, i only had heartburn once. didn't even realize that's what it was. it was a weird burning sensation in my chest. with this pregnancy, i got it twice, i believe, both after a date with the toilet. my doctor said tums was good, but i prefer not to take medicine - especially since my husband said tums is nasty. i absolutely detest chewing on medicine. i'm a swallower.

Chew gum!

Worked wonders for me when I was pregnant. I always had to have a pack of gum with me at all times.

Yep, tums were one of my best friends during pregnancy. Milk can sometimes help, as well. Indigestion? Try drinking something carbonated to help you burp.

i only had heartburn once in my life before getting pregnant. then with charlie i had it almost every day. i just ate a lot of tums (they're safe during pregnancy). i had heartburn with olive too, but much less. i think it was because i gained less weight. but my tolerance for spicy food was also just much lower while i was pregnant, and i normally eat super duper spicy!

I seriously have never had heartburn before until today. I;m 16 weeks 4 days and I had 2 slices of brocolli pizza with chilli flakes and then an almond joy candy bar. Now my chest feels like its on fire. Just the other day i was saying how lucky I am that I've never had to experience heartburn. Did any of you experience heartburn whilst pregnant and what natural home remedies do you have?
