There is also an earth baby mama heartburn tea you could try. I haven't tried it but considered it before my lemon juice fix.

Look into essential oils maybe. I think maybe peppermint might help? I'm not sure though.

@MrsSRS: yes, tums were my BFF for all of my pregnancies and I agree the smoothies have a much more tolerable texture.

@snowjewelz: @MrsBrewer: OK I'm glad I'm not the only weirdo who hates Tums! People seem to think it's so strange when I say they make me feel more sick because I can't stand the taste and texture. They do help if I can chew them up really quickly and then chug water. Mainly I just have to avoid getting too full, especially after like 8 pm.

@MrsBrewer: I cut my lemon into 8 pieces and then squeeze a piece or two into the water and then just it into the water. I bought a huge bag of lemons from Costco last week and haven't needed any OTC stuff in weeks.

@snowjewelz: Same here, I hate Tums with a passion, I hate the consistency/chalky flavor. It makes me gag thinking about it! and True, honey makes anything better!

It was my first symptom too, and then the reflux was acting like "morning" sickness, which was really confusing.
1. I had to stop eating by 7pm every night or I would get sick at night and the next morning.
2. I tried tums, milk (that helped in the moment and continues to help), Zantac and finally, when the anti-morning sickness drugs weren't helping, my doctor told me to stop messing around and just take Nexium first thing in the morning. That did the trick! I've had to take it for the ENTIRE pregnancy, otherwise I start vomiting.

I'm 39w 2d and I'm still taking Nexium and eating before 7pm.

@snowjewelz: That's worth a shot, although the tea doesn't sound like it tastes too great...I'm not a huge ginger fan.

@Anya: I'm sure that's my problem I notice it more if I'm full, versus if I just eat a small meal (like a salad). Smaller portions!

@Mrs. Toad: I've never heard of that one before!!

@raspberries: I'm totally open to that too, especially if I can't find something to help...

@psw27: ACV I feel like is the cure all to everything!

@Shantuck: Lemon water sounds so much better than ACV (taste wise!) Maybe I will try that! Did you just put a slice or two in the water?

I'm in the third trimester and have been battling heartburn throughout this pregnancy. It has been so bad at times that the Pepcid AC or Tagment I was taking wouldn't really do a thing. In addition to avoiding greasy foods, I've been drinking a lot of lemon water and I honestly think it's helping. I make a cup of hot water with lemon when I first wake up and then I have a cold glass of water with lemon whenever I start to feel the heartburn set in. If I break my rule and eat something greasy, I'll still take a Pepcid but I'll also add the lemon water and I've been so much more comfortable. I haven't woken up with horrible heartburn since I started drinking 2-3 cups of lemon water each day. Can't hurt to try, right?

ETA: I think this works the same way as the apple cider vinegar. Even though it is acidic and counter-intuitive, it has the effect of making the contents of your stomach less acidic.

Someone linked to this blog post by Katherine Heigl last week and she had a natural indigestion remedy - apple cider vinegar of all things! Worth trying?

Not eating meals was the best thing I could do. I had to just eat really small portions more frequent throughout the day. That and avoiding my biggest triggers which were tomatoes and bread.

So for my first pregnancy, I didn't have heartburn until the very end. Now with this pregnancy, this was my first symptom. It's awful...whenever I eat a meal, I get heartburn 20-30 minutes later like clockwork.....

Help! Any advice/suggestions? I would love more "natural" remedies, but honestly, I'm open to anything at this point...
