I felt it this weekend! Standing outside talking to a neighbor and thought I was going to faint. How embarrassing! I don't know if it is practical in public, but I always feel better when I put an ice pack (or more likely a bag of frozen peas) on the back of my neck.

Or, if you wanted to get fancy, you could always try this: http://www.blackicecooling.com/. :)

I take cool showers. If you can, avoid doing as much outdoor or remotely physical stuff as you can between 10 AM and 4 PM. Do grocery shopping in the evening, for example. Wear light colored cotton clothing that covers your shoulders if you must be outside (I burn easy), and skirts tend to be cooler than pants in my experience. Wear slip on shoes (no socks) that you can kick off if you're feeling too warm. Hydrate well, and keep freezer pops on hand (the year our AC was out, we basically lived on those.) Wear your hair up with no hair spray or gel, and if you can find a style that you can do with wet hair, even better.

I've never dealt well with heat (and I live in Texas....ugh) and it's gotten even WORSE now that I'm pregnant (14.5 weeks). We were outside for about 2 hours this weekend when it was about 95, not in the water, and I drank 30 oz. of water and towards the end of the 2 hours was starting to get really lightheaded. I'm going to have to be REALLY careful this summer and never ever go outside without a lot of water and air conditioning nearby.

We usually go to a lot of concerts in the summer and most are outdoors, but that won't be happening this year....

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one although I'm sorry you guys are uncomfortable too.
I had anticipated being uncomfortable once I started showing, but had no idea that I'd feel so awful this early. I used to love being outside, now I dread going outside.

I went to lunch and a park outing with LO and was sweating almost the entire time! Got through lunch, went to the park and literally stayed for 3 minutes before I couldn't take it anymore.
It was only 84 degrees or so, but the sun was beating down on me! I'm 10 weeks along. :D

Yes. I hate the heat anyway, i melt like a popsicle. But being hot makes me feel esp nauseous and dizzy now that im pregnant. I plan on being inside with the ac on at full blast the entire summer!

I am scared for the heat, I can tolerate it but it drains my energy immediately! I want to go and laydown after an hour of being outside. This is not like me, I love the heat and the water ect.

I too am having trouble with this. It was in the 90's and humid this past weekend and I was miserable (and swollen). I was pregnant in the winter last time so I missed out on all this "fun" (cough cough). I've already had to take my wedding/engagement rings off because my fingers remain too swollen for them to be comfortable/safe.

I was so sick pregnant that I could hardly make it to the beach, so we got an inflatable kiddie pool big enough for my toddler, husband and I to fit in. Spent a lot of afternoons in the kiddie pool.

I was like that too. I was pregnant in summer in Florida. I just stayed inside or in a pool as much as possible.

I have seriously been panicking about this all morning. I am also not tolerating the heat well (20 weeks pregnant) and so far it hasn’t gotten past 92-ish here. Tomorrow it’s supposed to be 100 and Friday it’s supposed to be 103. I honestly don’t know how I’m going to make it through the summer!!

Is anyone else having problems tolerating the heat?

I'm 12 wks today with my first, and I am having a lot of trouble tolerating the heat. It's 90 degrees here today, and we're not even into full summer yet. I was outside for 15 minutes today, and almost passed out.

Anyone else having any trouble with this?

Anyone have any tips, besides staying hydrated?
