@mrsmacandcheese: what you are describing doesn't sound too abnormal, but to answer your question about c-sections. Hemorrhage is more likely with c-sections. And accreta risk increases significantly with each additional c-section.

My PP bleeding tapered off after a few weeks and was fone after about a month but the crampy feeling lasted a long time. It mostly bothered me when I was nursing/pumping. Can you call the advice nurse between now and your upcoming appointment, just to check?

I remember something similar happening to me. I had stopped bleeding for like a week and then had heavy bleeding again for a couple days. I texted my mom (a nurse in L&D) and she said it was pretty normal (so long as it wasn't bleeding through pads, huge clots, more than normal kind of thing). I don't remember what week I was PP, but I do remember being a little freaked out by it!

I have an appointment with my doctor on the 30th so I'm hoping it'll stay the same or go away till then! I'm not sure if there's as much of a risk with hemorrhage and stuff with a c section? I just feel so crampy and gross.

I had a similar uptick in bleeding at 4 weeks postpartum with some large clots. My doc said that if remained heavy for several days, then I was supposed to come in to be checked out. If it tapered off, I could wait until my 6 weeks postpartum appointment. In my case, the bleeding remained heavy so I went in and discovered that a fragment of placenta was still intact in my uterus (placenta accreta). My situation is pretty rare though so likely you are not dealing with this but I'm just sharing mostly for the benefit of having called my ob with a similar question.

Mine tapered off at the same time, and I know I increased my activity level a bit ... then the bleeding increased for another two weeks (lasted until 8 weeks, ugh). From what I understand, there's a "wound" where the placenta comes off the uterus, so it just takes awhile for some to get back to normal.

Midwives were more concerned that I didn't have a fever or felt achey.

(eta: I had a vaginal birth, but most pp bleeding is the same, right?)

Mine tapered off around 2.5 weeks, then started back up, but I can't remember exactly when. I actually thought it could be my period returning since I was combo-feeding. I ended up bleeding until 6 weeks and then the bleeding stopped, but my period didn't return until a year PP. If you are concerned though, I would not hesitate to call your dr!

I can't remember anything from my first recovery other than that it sucked and have already gone to emerg once in a panic (last week with increased pain).

So - my PP bleeding had all but stopped. Last night I woke up and went to the bathroom and it was back with a vengeance. Small clots, blood dripping - the works. It's dark red blood, and bad continued through today. I also have cramps. I really feel like I do on the first day of my usual period, but I'm only three weeks PP.

I'm not soaking through more pads than I should as far as I can tell. I've been gradually increasing activity but took it easy today (and I'm tired as hell so that wasn't hard to do!). All of my blood work was normal last time and the doctor said the incision feels and looks normal.

I'm guessing this is in the realm of normal recovery but would love some reassurance!
