I took DD to the ER because of a 105 fever (and she was 4 at the time) and the ER doctor said that it isn't the number but how they are acting. If they are lethargic, that's a big problem. That being said, poor DD had a UTI :( Hope your LO feels better soon!

His fever went down to 99 before nap! So happy.

@littlejoy: we may skip the bath too - for that reason / he is FREAKING over just a diaper change so I think bath is going to be "no-kay" according to him. Haha. 5 days of fever is terrifying! I can't even handle day 2!

Really appreciate all the good advice and reassurance.

Best wishes! I was going to suggest alternating ibu and acet every 3 hours. No more than 4 doses of either in 24 hours. We actually opted to not do a bath ... we didn't want her to shiver (which could raise her temp).

Our LO just had a virus for 6+ days ... 5 days of high fever. It was scary!!! Medicine is such a blessing ... it really helps make them more comfortable, and it'll bring the fever down. :)

Are you alternating advil and tylenol? I would see if that dose brings it down, give a dose of tylenol and then see if it helps.

Any other crazy signs, I would bring her in.

I would call again too, but C had something very similar this weekend. To help get the fever down you can rub her forehead with a cool washcloth, and have her take a lukewarm (not cold) bath. Don't over dress her.

But yeah i would still call again for peace of mind.

C had this for almost three days, but only one really bad day where even alternating Tylenol and Motrin the fever was still breaking through. It's so sad, but the fever is a sign of her body fighting the virus.

LO (2 yrs old) had a cold for a week with no fever and then woke up yesterday AM @ 102. Dr said ears were clear and it's likely viral so to wait 2 more days before coming back. I gave Advil an hour ago and it's 104.3 now. I'm freaking out. Do I call back ? I referred to the Seattle childrens link that has been posted but it's hard to be rational when he's so miserable and hot. WWYD?
