@MrsADS: sounds like my baby, so into looking at things that she doesn't want to sleep. We did the EASY schedule another poster mentioned and that helped. Also only napping in the crib/pnp with a sound machine and few distractions - mine never slept in a swing or car seat soar really embraced the routine of putting her in the crib

45 mins is considered a long nap right now. Sounds totally normal. I just held DD for naps because it helped prolong them!

Around that time my LO wasn't napping well (I remember thinking how did people actually get things accomplished??? She was napping in 15-20 min spurts). I took a few days and really paid attention to max wake time, which totally helped us get on a good EASY schedule (eat, activity, sleep, you time). yeah I think you are right. Their little brains are totally waking up and much more aware and alert at that phase. And white noise! The marpac dohm is da bomb lifesaver

Sounds normal! Check into optimal awake times and it should be easier to get him down.

Thanks all! I wonder if it's maybe transitioning froM the super sleepy newborn stage into a more alert stage. He's definitely getting more aware of his surroundings. Like he won't sleep and he's starting at a pattern of light on the wall coming in through the window.

He won't sleep in a swing or bouncer... he will sometimes cat nap in the stroller if I'm out, although I usually have to do the "birdcage" technique (put a light blanket over the car seat so he can't see anything!).

He does sleep in a swaddle still.... we use the Swaddle Me velcro swaddlers. Without that I think we'd get no sleep! Although when he fights sleep he will wriggle around in that swaddle lIke a fish.

I'm just worried, he's not getting even close to the recommended amount of sleep for his age! Not to mention I am tearing my hair out aND gong crazy spending all day trying to get him to sleep.

Around 8 weeks I remember my son having a horrible sleep regression.the newborn napping easily and for long periods of time went out the window. It was hard. I think in the end he just needed more time in between waking up and his first nap and then between first nap and second nap. Also it could be a growth spurt or wonder week. Good luck mama :goodluck:

How does he do napping in the car or in a stroller? I did a lot of aimless walking and driving to get LO to nap.

My 2 month old has never been a great sleeper but up until about a week ago he was a pretty good napper. It takes a lot of rocking and soothing to get him down, but he would take 2 good long naps every day, like 1.5 to 2.5 hours.

Now, he just won't sleep. I rock him and he will fall lightly asleep for 10 minutes but then wakes up. He won't stay asleep. It is a huge struggle. I get MAYBE one 'good' nap of 45 minutes... otherwise very little. He is so cranky and clearly overtired. I always try to get him down early, do not keep him awake for long, but nothing really works.... ugh. We are both miserable.

He doesn't really like being worn so unfortunately that is out. Help!
