@SweetCaroline: Unfortunately, it's typically done on the way to/from school, so I can't really think of a consequence.

@gotkimchi: Awesome, thanks! If nothing else, it is wonderful to read that my kid isn't the only freak that does this.

I would do some of the things listed here. http://thecarseatlady.com/houdini-stopper/

These would likely make my kid mad and I'd say well when you prove you can sit nicely we'll stop

Have you tried a tranq dart? I'm often tempted to give that a whirl.

I agree that at this point I would be more looking out teaching him then a physical barrier. Eventually he's going to be in a regular seat Belt and needs to learn how to respect being in a car

I told my then 3 year old that the police would stop us and we would get a ticket if he messed with the chest clip (and that if we hit another car, he could go flying out-so it is not safe), he never did it again.

What a stinker! Have you tried imposing any consequences for him when he does this or explained the importance of being buckled properly?

Okay, one of my nearly four-year-old twins keeps escaping his car seat safety belt. He's in a Graco Head Size, not a booster. No matter how snug I get the belt, he wiggles until he can move the chest clip down and get his arms out of the belt, then leans forward. The clips between his legs remain buckled but obviously this isn't a safe way to ride. What is the solution?
