We had the exact same issue at 6 weeks after we came back from the Thanksgiving holiday where she was held constantly. It was a rough week but we just stayed consistent. We'd get her back to sleep and then put her back into the crib.

@Jennimac: @evansjamie: Clara is doing this same thing with the eyes popping open. So frustrating. She is supposedly in the first wonder week growth spurt too, so hopefully it's over soon!

And the vent fan in kitchen is working tonight. We are standing in front of it and she went down in 5 minutes. :)

@evansjamie: that's what I'm thinking too. She has two or three more days of it. I think it started right when we got home to our other house. I've got three more nights of by myself duty so I'm hoping her nights are a bit better. Now, I say that as she is cuddled up next to me. ;)

@Jennimac: Could it be the wonder week/growth spurt? I could get Hyla down mostly, but she's been doing the same thing MM has been, sleeping but popping her eyes open the second I set her down and wanting to nurse.

@swedishfish: okay. I guess I was hoping it would work itself out sooner than later since I do day and night, especially when DH is working out of town. Glad to know I didn't mess her up! :) funny thing is, she loves motion, but cries in her swing sometimes. I don't know if it's because it is laying flat and she wants to sit up. She just doesn't have the head control yet.

@Jennimac: I think she will learn how to fall asleep eventually. R needed the swing at first for a while but grew out of that. You didn't ruin her sleep.

@swedishfish: yes....she liked the rain at first, then we did vacuum. Last night, she slept with rain/thunder/fan mix. We just did rain at the other house and it seemed to work just fine.

I don't think you held her too much. My LO went through his crazy, awful sleep period at 6-7 weeks. We tried everything {not too succesfully} until he just outgrew it. Sorry.

So. LO is almost 6 weeks old. My mom visited this week, so LO was taking her naps while being held. I tried to get my mom to put her down, but you know how grandparents are. ;)

She was sleeping pretty well before this week. When we were at our other house, she would nap on the couch and fall asleep in her pack and play. It's been since we've come back that she has had some problems. At our other house she slept in the upper option of the pack and play with a little towel nest under the crib sheet. At this house, she sleeps in the newborn napped bassinet option.

At night, LO falls asleep, but will sometimes wake up about 2 minutes after we put her down. I'll pat her and shush her or sing to her,but those eyes pop back open and she is up, wanting to nurse again.

My question is, have we ruined her sleep by holding her? What can I do to help her fall back asleep when she wakes up quickly? Should I switch her to the upper pack and play option? Any other tips? She has a good night time routine of lotion or bath, book, nurse, and sleep. It's the staying asleep we struggle with.
