Same here. Contractions 7-8 minutes apart for about 20 hours (dilated to 1 that whole time). Then 5 minutes apart for about 20 more hours ( got me to 2.5). Then 40 more hours contractions at 3 minutes apart till complete. I should have just waited until it was intense. I say, if you think it isn't time, it isn't time.

I'm 2 days overdue and have had "early labor " (regular contractions every 5-8 min) for 2 weeks. I had a contractions every 5 min for 30hts straight last week but they were never painful nor did they ramp up in intensity and just pettered off as I slept.

I had a few days of prodromal labour before my water broke - the contractions were close together but not super painful. When they failed to ramp up 24hrs after my water broke, I was induced and I was only 1-2cm at that point. :bummed: But once I got going, labour was quick and easy. Good luck :goodluck:

I had that. My contractions got closer after 24 hrs BUT I failed to progress. I never got farther than 5 cm.

My sister had this for 3 days. Never got checked, but went into hospital after the third day and lots of walking. Her contractions were slowing down in the hospital and they were going to send her home and she said no, I'm having this baby and walked around more to keep things going. Then she had the baby (her second) quite fast and went home a few hours later. Don't know about dilation and effacement though.

That must be really frustrating. :(. Especially having strep b. Hopefully your water breaks and things really get going soon!

Me. Although mine came and went. I had a full week of prodromal labor. Several times, I thought I was for sure in "real" labor, and then the contractions would just disappear. It was my second, so I know what labor feels like.

When I was starting to get really sleep deprived (they were the worst at night, so I wasn't sleeping much). my doctor recommended either a glass of wine or a Tylenol PM to take the edge off and help me sleep.

The good news is that all that prodromal labor made my real labor super fast. 2.5 hours from feeling anything to baby out. I was at work and have a long commute, so was only in the hospital 20 minutes.

Oh no! That sounds terrible. I'm sure once you start really dilating, you'll dilate FAST! Your body has been preparing for awhile!! If you're GBS+ and your water hasn't broken, I would ask to not be checked, since I'm sure it's just frustrating you! Good luck!!

Hugs! I delivered 51 hours after my contractions reached 5 minutes apart. Most hurt just as bad as transition and some were back to back. I was offered morphine when I first went to the hospital at 30-something hours. In hindsight I wish I had taken it.

Oh no! I was also having strong contractions but was not dilating at all. They were strong enough that they didn't send me home. OB ended up doing a "morphine sleep" where I got light dose that allowed me to sleep and relax my body so i could dilate. I slept about two hours and when I woke up with contractions again I was 6 centimeters and before I knew it 10 and pushed the baby out in three pushes.

Ahhh good luck I hope you dilate on your own!!

Long story short:
37 weeks tomorrow. Having contractions every 5 minutes since yesterday. First check I wasn't even 1cm and "thick" hour later still not even 1cm but super thin. Doctor told me she didn't think I would make it through the night as since my contractions were consistent she considered me in active labor. Well here I am almost 24 hours later- nothing. Went in about 8 hours ago to be checked again (per their request since I am strep b positive) but still hadn't dilated any more. Still contracting every 5 minutes all day. Some are pretty painful & some are bearable. Did anyone experience anything like this? If so how long was it before you started to dilate or go into full blown labor?
