@macintosh: I think they say remove when child can sit unassisted because they may use them to climb out. Do you think he'd be able to climb out? If not, I'd probably consider using the mesh bumpers or getting several back up pacis!

We still use the breathable bumper at 22 months, and it's strictly to keep the pacifiers contained. She's never tried to climb out, and it's pretty flimsy anyway.

@macintosh: do you know why they are ending up on the floor? Does it slip out on its own or is he throwing it?

I bought a few beanie babies with pacifiers attached from an etsy vendor. They are weighted so they stay in place better than the wubbanub. http://etsy.me/1Rdtq9G

They are a few more $ than the wubbanub.

We used the breathable bumper and this was my main reason for it! My ped had no problem with it, she wasn't concerned until he could stand and even then she told me to make my own decision about it. She was worried be could use it as a "step" to get out of the crib but it's definitely too flimsy for that.
So I just got rid of the front panel bumper a couple weeks ago at 16 months because he is becoming more experimental. I am keeping the one on the back of the crib, against the wall. To keep in pacifiers is still my main reason. It's against a wall so he won't be able to climb out on that side. So I'm not worried.

Poor kiddo! Does he wear a sleep sack? I ran a pacifier clip through the holes in the soothie and clipped DD2's wub (a giraffe she's christened Pop) to her sleep sack from about 9-10 months.

My 9 month old has become an amazing sleeper. Puts himself to sleep, frequently sleeps through the night even! I'm so proud. But the past few days his beloved Elephant wubbanub "Earl" has wound up on the floor, causing him to cry when he can't find it.

We actually have 2 "Earls" but I left one at DH's physical therapist's office and we won't get it back til Monday. Aside from sprinkling extra pacis in the crib (regular soothies) is there anything else I can do? I thought about mesh crib bumpers but the product description said "remove when child can sit unassisted".
