@dojo: She is 13 months now, we moved to the Radian at 9 months. But she was probably about 6 months when she was too heavy to carry in infant seat- we just left it in the car and got her in/out while it was locked in place. She is MUCH happier now that she's in the convertible- she can see out more and sits more upright. Putting her in the infant seat was always a struggle.

@Lulabee: That's where we would probably place it too. How old is your LO and when did you start using the Radian? Ours is only 6 months now and using an infant seat but it's already getting so heavy for me to carry!

@Adira: Cool! I am kind of excited to see what they say - I sent them a message this morning with L's stats to see what they recommend.

@Smurfette: I will let you know! Have you seen the ones on sale on Amazon? There's some good deals so I figured might as well figure out if one of them will work for us!

@Lulabee: Which seat do you have the Radian sitting in the Passat?

@Smurfette: Well, I'm not definite on it yet, but from what I understand, it has the tallest back to allow for RFing the longest based on height, and since Xander seems tall (and not overly heavy), it seems like this would allow him to RF for as long as possible. If he was also in the 90th percentile for weight, I'd probably go with the Clek Foonf, as it has the highest weight limit for RFing, but since he's tall and skinny, the more affordable Graco will work for us, I believe!

@Smurfette: I WAS going to get the Evenflo Symphony 65, but I have since decided I'm more likely to get to Graco MySize 70 because Xander is so tall! You should definitely check out that FB group Car Seats for the Littles! You can just tell them what you want/need and they can give you great advice! For me, I mentioned that Xander was in the 90th percentile for height and that I wanted to RF for 2+ years and they were super helpful!

We have the Diono Radian RXT and love it. It fits rear facing in both our VW Passat wagon and Subaru Impreza. It's a little tight in the Impreza but DD's legs aren't squished so not a big deal. We did not get the angle adjuster.

@dojo: we have two convertibles, we have th Britax Marathon G3-70 and then we also have the graco Myride 65. We really prefer the Britax it is much more comfortable. The graco has built in cup holders which the britax doesnt have, but so far it hasnt made a difference to us

Diono if your child is tall, no question. You will definitely need an angle adjuster, though. We have one in a CRV and needed it. I also had a Marathon -- very similar to the Boulevard. Nice seat and easy to use but my LO outgrew it rear-facing around 21 months.

We have the Diono and love it, but without the angle adjuster (a piece of foam that you can buy for an extra $10ish) it barely fit behind the passenger seat rear-facing in our 2012 CR-V. With the angle adjuster, there is a comfortable amount of legroom for an average-height person in the passenger seat. We didn't try it in the center seat, so maybe it would fit better there without the angle adjuster.

I have been thinking to go ahead and purchase a convertible car seat since there's some pretty good deals right now on Amazon. We are currently using a Chicco Keyfit for our 6 month old. I have been looking at the Diono Radian RXT, Recaro Proride, and Britax Boulevard 70-G3. Honestly the more I look the more confused I get. We drive a VW Jetta and a Honda CRV both older models without latch and would prefer to be able to keep him rear-facing as long as possible ideally in the center seat.

The Diono seems awesome but I'm concerned about how it would fit in the Jetta. The reviews for the other two seem to point out a lack of leg room while rear-facing.

Any advice on these three models or another recommendation all together?
