I got a tankini from J Crew, the 'swing' style, so it was loose in the middle. However, I feel like it just accentuated the I-ate-too-much-last-night look instead of looking a little pregnant. It was on sale so I'm not too upset.

I just pulled the trigger and bought two cut one pieces with lots of rouching a size up from my regular size.

I wore an Old Navy one piece during first tri. Bought a size up and there was plenty of stretch in the belly. Also second the rec for tankinis - they have a lot more stretch than you may think, especially if you buy a size up.

@MOJ: I bought in a size Med? Large? (I'm norm a S) and it was fine for 1st/2nd trim! :) I actually got that suit on sale in store a couple summers ago though, and it was marked likek 60% off :) So I was willing to give it a try without trying on in store! It wasn't tight, but I will be honest, that I felt more comfortable in my regular bikini because it was so hot in FL.

@pui: agree.

If you're like me, I have to wear a size larger just for my (nursing) boobs, so it would work. But if you are small chested this may not work, in which case I would just get a cheap tankini in the size that fits now, knowing it won't be good for long!

@mrsjyw: Did you find the assets brand to feel really constricting? I saw their line at Target, but I was nervous I would feel kinda smooshed...

I got a rouched one piece from target (nonmaternity) to wear for our baby moon around 15 weeks when I was still in that bloated, ate too much phase.

Perhaps a regular tankini, maybe a size or so bigger than your regular size, might be a good fit?

I am 8 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child, and bloated to the point that I look happily in my early 2nd tri.

My DH is totally not comfortable with the look of pregnant women in bikinis (and frankly I feel so bloaty that I am fine with that).

That said, I am not ready (I don't think) for a full-on maternity one piece since I am not big as a house yet. Any tips for where to shop for a one piece that accommodates a small bump?
