@ladyfingers: Thanks! I will go back and read those. She actually took 4 ozs today but it was formula. Yesterday was BM. Not sure if that was the difference. They couldn't get her to take it so took her to a more private room and a lady from the office fed her. I feel SO much better about Monday even though I am still going to worry.

We had this problem and I was freaking out but after a week or so it got better. Survival instinct will win out! We tried all the tips (don't wait until she's hungry, different positions, movement, etc.) and I don't know what made it work but one day she drank a tiny bit, the next day a bit more, etc. Over the weekends without bottles she'd backslide a bit but now we have no problems. Hang in there.

@smurfette: LO had this problem, too. Not as severe, but he took the occasional bottle fine the first couple of months, then all of a sudden started refusing them a week before going back to daycare. Daycare had a hard time giving him his very first bottle when he started, and said he still fusses, but they can get him to latch eventually. Though he still won't take one from DH, even if I'm not home (which really stresses him out obviously, because there is no alternative to getting him to eat in that case).

Anyway, we haven't really done anything about it since he does take them at daycare, but here are some Isis webinars that had been linked in a previous thread:

No one has any ideas on to get her to take the bottle? She wouldn't take it from me again tonight.

@Mrsbells: Last week, think Tuesday night. Then we think she went through a growth spurt so she only wanted the boob.

@Mrsbells: This was my experience too. We waited too long in between bottles (a few weeks?) and she hasn't taken one since. We tried a couple different brands/situations/people/positions etc but no luck. I've been told to try a sippy cup or a spoon but haven't yet.

@Smurfette: How recently has she had that bottle?

My LO was fine with the avent bottles for the first few weeks then we stopped giving her the bottles for about a month. once we tried to reintroduce them she refused them and it took trying many different brands to get her to take a bottle again

@Smurfette: aww poor thing :( i know how upsetting is it, i remember my first day back and LO only drank a few ounces and was fussy all day, I was SO upset and worried that she would starve while I was at work. The next day she drank from the bottle like a pro. the first day she must have just thought it was a one time thing so she refused all day, but then the next day when it happened again, she probably got used to it and wanted to eat. I hope your LO figures it out quickly for your sake!

Man, I remember those days well, it was the thing that stressed em out the most about coming back to work. In the end she would only drink the milk from a sippy cup. Anytime the nanny tried the bottle she got enraged!

I took R today for a trial run at day care. She was there 3 1/2 hours. I walked in and saw the main teacher in the office. She was there getting my number to call me cause they couldn't get her calmed down:( Reagan was bright red, arms moving all around, tears down her face in the swing when I walked in. She calmed down when I picked her up.

She hadn't eaten in 5 hours. They tried for an hour to get her to take the bottle. They tried when she was half asleep, happy, crying, etc. Ended up throwing away 6 ozs of BM. I nursed her there and then she was fine, and then smiling at everyone.

They told me to come back tomorrow so they can try again. Anything to make me feel more comfortable for Monday when she is there all day and I am back to work.

I know it isn't the bottle, she has taken it before. DH is gone till Friday night, so he can't even try and get her to take a bottle. I am going to try till then with formula, don't want to keep wasting BM. I will have DH try all weekend.

Any other tips? We have tried it warm, hot, room temp, girlfriend just wants the boob!!

I will say I do feel better about her napping. She fell asleep in the swing and slept for an hour. Which she doesn't like the swing at home.
