A nice fleece throw to liven up his bed or a comfy hoodie once he's feeling good enough to wear some normalish clothes. Those are both things that helped perk up my BIL when he was hospitalized recently.

Nice things for the SIL too!
Since she's doing most of the shuffling between hospitals and home..maybe coffee gift card? grocery store gift card?

These are great ideas! I'm going to start looking into them. Love the idea of DS making a card, we could get on that this weekend. Also a pillow and throw blanket are good too!

He hasn't been able to focus on tv or movies, he has a portable DVD player, but hopefully in the upcoming weeks that will be better.

Warm socks ( bonus if they have grips), thick hand lotion, maybe a noise machine? I like the pillow idea, maybe a nice fleece blanket. Big collage of family pics? Call the hospital and see if if they offer in room massage or therapy dog visits?(sometimes hospitals have more amenities than people know about)

Can he focus on movies or TV shows? Then you could organize a tablet device to be set up with them. I also like the idea of PP to "make" a card with LO. Pintrest has lots of ideas :-)
Hope he feels better soon.

Maybe a framed pic of your lo or something to help cheer him up a bit? Can he listen to audio books?

I'm sorry! Sounds so hard. You seem like a great SIL ❤️

The only thing I can think of is balloons which seems a little lame.

Maybe a bathrobe. Or a portable iPhone speaker so he can play music without wearing headphones.

Or a nice pillow since hospital pillows usually suck?

@Mrsk: I know your little is only 6 months old. But what about having your LO "make" a get well card for his uncle?

They don't have kids. We are planning to go up in two weeks. We can't manage a trip up before then. I plan of cooking some freezer meals and bringing them up when we go. Looking for something that would cheer him up, and let him know we are rooting for him so send before we head up in two weeks. I'm totally stumped!

So long story short, DH's brother, BIL, had major planned open heart surgery 2 weeks before Christmas. It went well, but recovery has been so slow, and he's just had another major set back. He is back in the ICU, with a ventilator. I'm trying to think of something to send up to him (they leave a 5 hour drive from us) am that could be there once he is out of ICU and recovering. He was so down on himself about how long his recovery was taking and I k ow that this will make he feel even more down.

The problem is I can't think of anything that will be of use or of value to him right now. with the meds he's on and how much recovery he has to do he can't focus on reading or watching anything, (so no magazines, books, online stuff) he has a feeding tube and so can't eat or drink anything (so no drinks, food, snacks, water bottles), he was up and moving around a bit but isn't now.

I can't think of what to send up. I already made a care package before he went in with snacks, magazines, an iTunes gift card, and some photos of the family. I'm at a loss of what to send besides a card, which I already sent one. I guess I could send another....

Bees, help, I'm just not able to think what I could send up! I'll order some flowers to be delivered to their home as I know his wife is stressed dealing with all of this.

Any suggestions??
