We used a SBP RS most of last summer when it was so hot. I didn't spend enough time with my mei tai to decide if I like it in the summer.

Both of my Mei Tais are customs that I "designed" so i have to show them off, lol...my "elephant carrier" has Horton ears, and the pirate carrier is technically DH's.

I have a Beco Butterfly II, ring slings, wrap conversion mei tais, and woven wraps. We aren't huge fans of the Beco, it was great when W was little but now it isn't nearly as comfortable as our other carriers. I used to primarily use ring slings (started using them when he was 2 weeks old) but now I just use them for quick trips into the store (W is now about 25 pounds). The mei tais are SUPER convenient and comfy so that's probably used there most between DH and I. Wraps are the most versatile in terms of how you can wear them, but there's quite a learning curve so they aren't for everyone.

I've been using a ring sling with my almost 4 week old & live in TX, so I understand your concerns about baby wearing in the heat! I love my sling, it's a Hava sling--they have different styles including some that are geared towards men. My shoulder never gets sore, you just have to make sure you are wearing it properly & that you have the correct size, if it's a sized sling. It took me a couple of days to make sure I was wearing it properly & to feel confident with it. Now I can wear her for hours and no sore back or sore shoulder. She never seems to be hotter than usual or sweaty while I'm wearing her either.

I just got a Girasol Mei Tai MySol and I LOVE IT. So comfy for both of us, and it's adjustable to fit tiny babies up to toddlers. We have a Comfy Joey Ring Sling which is also great, and because it's pleated on the shoulder it's pretty comfortable when you spread the fabric out. A doesn't love it yet, but I think it will work when he gets bigger and can sit up better on his own.

We have a k'tan and a boba 3G.

I've used the k'tan a few times- its definitely the right size for me as far as I can tell, but she is really snug in there and I constantly am worried about her position. I have only used the kangaroo/newborn position so far- I think I may like it more when she is larger and we can use some of the other positions.

My husband and I both love the Boba 3G, and so does babe. She'll take good long naps in it, and its pretty comfortable for both of us to wear her.

I've been researching baby-wearing in hot weather, and it seems like people prefer mei-tai carriers. My husband has also expressed some interest in a sling style carrier- my hesitation with slings is that it seems like the shoulder you wore her on would get really sore?

I was thinking about getting another carrier as part of his father's day gift (because its a good excuse!). What should I get? We'll also be purchasing a frame back-pack for hiking in the fall when she is older.
