I guess I'm in the minority here, but I didn't like my prenatal massage, Maybe I just had a bad masseuse, though. But my main/pedi at 39 weeks was HEAVEN. My feet and hands were SO swollen. So I voted for luxe mani/pedi and 75 minute massage.

I say regular pedi and 90 min massage. It's nice to have cute toes and well taken care of feet when you can see them again! But the massage will be amazing. Such a nice treat.

MASSAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I paid big bucks for a massage at 36 weeks because my sciatica was so bad I couldn't walk. Seriously, 120 min massage and then another 30 min massage if you can. Screw the pedi!

Long massage...but personally I would wait until after you deliver and can lay on your stomach again...it will feel that much better! Get the pedi before and massage after!

@abbydabbydoodlebug: Yep - everyone who is certified in prenatal massage will know what to do. And you can only - for spa liability reasons - get a massage from someone certified in prenatal.

@septca: @prettylizy: thank you for the advice! They offer prenatal massage specifically, so I'm assuming they'll know what they're doing. Lol.

I think I'll try to schedule it for around 37 weeks maybe. And it sounds like a long massage is the way to go! I'm getting excited!

I agree w @septca: I've been getting monthly massages from an RMT/Doula my entire pregnancy and all RMTs know what to avoid etc to keep you 'out' of labour.

I'd go with either mani/pedi/massage or pedi/massage and make the massage long. You'll love it. Make sure to tell them how far along you are so they can accomodate you with a pillow or pillows.

@MrsKoala: Exactly this.

I only get 90 min massages anymore because 60 minutes feels too short! (First world problems, I know...)

I would absolutely go for the pedicure + looonnnng massage. You will be so glad you did.

As for risk of early labor, I really wouldn't worry about it. In order to stimulate labor, you need a therapist trained in accupressure and they need to *really* work those points. (I had this done late in my pregnancy and it was A LOT of work - way more than you would get during a normal massage.)

So when I was pregnant (36 weeks), I got a 60 minute massage and it was AMAZING!!! So I voted for basic pedi and 90 minute massage because I wish my massage had lasted longer, haha!

But no matter what you do, you'll enjoy it!!! :)

ohh mani/pedi massage would be great!! i'd go as late as possible so that you still have cute toes for delivery! lol :) massage will be wonderful!!!

second option would be the quick pedi and long massage if you don't care too much about your finger nails!

I got a large gift certificate last Christmas to a local spa and I want to use it before my LO arrives! I'm not sure when I should go though. I'm thinking of going after Christmas when I'm around 36-37 weeks pregnant. Is that too late? My doctor said that after 36 weeks is better, as far as getting massages and risk of going into early labor.

The bigger problem is that I have no idea what to get! I've only ever been to a spa one other time (a massage on my honeymoon) and I'm nervous! Plus, it's a pretty large gift certificate, so there's many options on what I could get.

I was thinking a pedicure (to make my feet pretty before birth, haha) and a massage. But is a prenatal massage worth it? With my certificate, I could do a 45 min pedi and a 90 min massage, or Lux pedi (warm oil, exfoliation, extra hydration) and a 75 min massage. Or a mani/pedi with 75 minute massage.

I just can't choose! Is there anything you wish you had gotten while you're pregnant?

Edit: I should've added that my due date is January 26!
