@AmandaB8: I pump for 30 mins every time =\ I have been able to skip the noon session and produce the same which helps a lot with monotony so hopefully that will continue. LO had nursed like crazy all weekend so maybe that'll help too

Also - how long are you pumping? Most EP mamas need to pump 20-30 minutes at a time. If you're only pumping for 15 minutes, it's likely you're not emptying.

You can also take sunflower lecithin (you can get it at a grocery store or pharmacy , with the vitamins) to help you empty faster.

@LAZB: I skipped the session and made up for it at 2;30 so maybe!

@snowjewelz: yeah my sons went from 10-12oz to 15 at 3-4 months and then stayed there until a year so I'm assuming she'll do the same.

Also know that the content of your bm changes to meet the baby's need so you don't nessisecarily need to increase as baby gets older! DD has been drinking 4-5 oz since 3 mo and she's almost 8 mo.

I pump 3x a day at work and I used to get 12oz but at this point (almost 8 mo pp) I'm only really getting 8oz. I have slow letdown so I always have to pump minimum 20 min.

@jetsa: I'm still doing pretty much exactly what you described, and my dd is almost 6 months. I thought I had a pretty established supply, but a couple of times I have missed a pumping session, and I generally didn't make up for it with the next one. I generally get 15-20 oz a day (and she eats 15 while I'm gone), so I'm thinking about dropping one session a day once she hits 6 months to see if I can still get enough.

@Charm54: @Adira: @avivoca: @aegie: thanks ladies! I hate trial and error but I guess that's what I need to do :). I'll drop the noon session and see what happens. It'll definitely help me feel less attached to the pump :)

At 2 months, I was EPing 5x a day - dropped to 4x at 3 months. It didn't matter whether I pumped 8x or 4x , I always got around 20-24oz. Once I tried to drop to 3 though I did notice a drop in supply. So 4 was definitely my magic number. Could you try and drop the 12:30 pump and see if you can keep your supply up? I only ever pumped at home though so I know it's probably trickier to manage and experiment with pumps while at work

Also, lots and lots of water helped my pumping output.

pumping 4x a day + bf'ing sounds about right at 2 months. FWIW, I pumped every 3 hours at 2 months, so about 8x a day. I cut it to 4x around the 8 month mark.

@jetsa: Have you read up at all about the Breastfeeding Magic Number? Some women can get away with pumping less than other women, so it's possible you might not be able to decrease the number of times you pump and still get the same amount. The only way to know though is by experimenting I think.

First, have you made sure that everything is working well on your pump? Did you get a new one with this pregnancy?

Secondly, are you making sure you are drinking enough water and getting enough good fats in your diet? That always helped me when I was a little low. I got so tired of avocados, but they really helped my supply. I also drank about 100oz of water a day.

Third, I pumped twice at work and usually got about 10-12 oz. If I needed more, I either pumped during our evening feed or pumped closer to bedtime. This was when she only ate from one side at a time. Once she ate from both sides, I pumped closer to my bedtime.

I breastfeed at home and pump at work 4 days a week. I also pump with my morning session everyday.

I see EP'ers say they can pump just 4 times a day and I wonder what I'm doing wrong? Is there a way to consolidate this pumping schedule into fewer sessions and still get enough milk for daycare.
I currently pump and Bf first thing in the am (between 6-7).
Then I pump on all 3 of my breaks at work (9:30, 12, 2:30) and im lucky to get 12 ounces a day.
She currently takes 10 ounces at 2 months but I expect it to increase.
I just do not seem to be reacting as well to the pump this time. I use large flanges and I think they're needed but maybe not?
