I stopped working before dd1 at 38 weeks and delivered right at 40 weeks and I loved the time off! I think having a little time to do extra special things with your older one that will be harder to do once the baby is here will be really nice. I'm so glad I made a point to do that since it's a lot harder to give her enough attention now. I would be off as early as they let me.</p> <p>I had 6 days off before DD came, and 7 days off before DS came (and both came early). That includes the 2 weeks I'm off for spring break. </p> <p>I'm not worried about being bored! I find the days are so full taking care of DD, DH and the house. Plus I can work on little projects for baby and I love organizing. I can bake or prepare freezer meals. </p> <p>Sounds like you've got plenty to keep yourself busy. DD came 40+5 days and I stopped working at 39 weeks. I was bored out of my mind. I chose to work right up to my due date and sure enough, I went into labour on the Monday (40+1). The month I had to myself before Dd2 came was HEAVENLY. Dd1 was in daycare 3x a week so on those days I would go to lunch with my mom, get a pedicure, haircut, etc and binge watch Netflix. She didn't come until 41+5. I was so bored and frustrated being off for almost a month waiting for baby. However, I didn't have anyone to hang out with, lived away from family, etc. </p> <p>This time around I swore I wouldn't go off super early again. But. I really want some time off before baby #2 gets here. I live up the street from my parents now and my mom is retired. I have a friend who's due in a few weeks, so she'll be around to visit. Plus I have DD to hang out with. She's in daycare but I plan to pick her up early and do some fun things just the two of us. </p> <p>Why can't I have a magic 8 ball and know when baby is going to come?? </p> <p>When would you go off if you were me? Also important, I'm in Canada and will be taking the full year.</p> <p>ETA: something else of note, DD's 3rd birthday is when I'm 38+3! </p>
