I think the little touches you've made are enough, and it looks beautiful! In full disclosure though, I don't worry about girlifying things. I'm finishing a really similar one for DD2! I chose it while TG, and it never occurred to me to try and make it more gender specific.

Ditto what @MaryM: said - as a little girl, I would have preferred this one because it has candy on it!

Have you done the holly across the top yet? Maybe you could use some eyelash yarn in a girly color to make it more fun. or do the big lollipops in more girly colors? Maybe the candy cane too?

Overall, I actually prefer this stocking to the other one though. I had a stocking with bears on it when I was little and when I hit pre-teen, I thought it was really babyish.

I never liked girly stuff as a kid. Who knows what your daughter will eventually like. You can always get her a different stocking later if she doesn't like it. I would just leave it as-is.

I like it as is! Fwiw, I would have preferred the new one over the purple one. If your daughter really wants it more frilly, I agree that changing the hat to a bonnet with a big bow on it would probably take care of that.

Leave it as is! It looks great the way it is and not everything needs to be gender specific. Christmas stuff should be Christmas colours in my opinion so I think it's perfect the way it is. I cannot imagine kids picking up on this and making an issue of it, even as they get older and notice differences! If anything, I think your DD1 might wonder why she doesn't have a Christmassy stocking when her little sister does....

No purple, it really doesn't go with the design. I'd leave it alone, or do more pink/red candy, like the two pieces at the bottom of orig design

Can you do a girlier hat like a bonnet instead of a top hat? Add a bead or sequin to the coal buttons? I wouldn't throw purple in the mix because I think it clashes with the red and green you already have in the scarf, but more pink in the candy mixed with red and white might be good. Throw a tutu on the snowman for good measure?

if you are really concerned about it being to masculine then I would change the top hat to like a sun hat or something.

Edited to add maybe add a bow to the top hat instead of the holly?

Leave it as it is, it's so cute. I've never seen or heard of a Christmas stocking with pink or purple on it, or even the idea of gendered stockings.

DD1 has this one, so there is already lots of purple in the mix, if that matters.

Thanks for your ideas!!

I've made Bucilla stockings for our whole family, and as I scramble to finish DD2's stockibg for the holidays, I'm not overly thrilled with the design I picked...I'm worried she will be jealous (as they get older) that DD1's stocking is a lot "girlier" than hers. I don't want to start from scratch, but am trying to add some girlier touches....I already gave the snowman pink cheeks and eyelashes. I'm thinking of swapping some of the red/green in the Candy pieces for more pink and purple. I wish I'd thought of this in time to do the scarf in pink/purple, but I've finished all the pueces already and they took forevER with all the beading/embroidery/fringe.

Creative Bees, WWYD? Add pink and purple to the candy? Suck it up and redo the scarf? Or go with the original design and not mess with the Christmassy colors?
