I constantly wonder how people survive winter (I'm right there with you!)

We like to go to the botanical garden conservatory and walk around, it's a really nice break from winter!

We also like the zoo, they have indoor and outdoor areas, and an indoor cafe overlooking the animals.

What helps me personally is to have some sort of project- particularly that I wouldn't want to be doing when we are go go go in the summer, but I know that can be hard when LO is main focus, especially sick. Maybe a project you can do together?

Overall, I think it'll be easier when your LO is older and it's not as much of a hassle getting her bundled up.

Fun winter/cold weather things:
Going for a walk and coming home to have hot chocolate & snack
Sledding!
Ice skating
Making s'mores in the fireplace

@catlady: I am right there with you. Being cooped up with a sick toddler sucks. My LO isn't even in daycare or school yet and she still has been sick more than not since early December. HFM a week before my due date with the baby, colds, ear infection, and a stomach bug.

When the weather is just right playing in the snow with the toddler can be so much fun, but it has to be the right amount of snow- last winter it was way too deep for anything! And not too bitter cold. Now that we are finally both feeling better i would take her out but I think it's too cold, especially since I'd have the baby on my chest. Forget this weekend when the cold snap comes in.

Wait... I'm not helping am I? DH's job wants to move us to Southern California and I'm digging my feet in saying I don't want to go. I keep thinking I would miss winter. :silly:

Sorry to hear that! How about doing an indoor dance parties and hot cocoa today? Take it day by day. LO being sick is the worst part, huh? When LO gets better maybe spend a day out shopping for fancy warm high tech socks and base layers.

Having grown up in New England, I should probably be used to winters by now, but I still just dread it every year. My family didn't ski or skate, so I didn't have winter sports to look forward to, but at least I used to be able to curl up with a book and enjoy lots of lazy time inside. Now that I have a toddler though, winter is just miserable. LO's constantly sick and cranky, the snow and cold makes my walking commute really hard, and DH and I are burning through PTO days due to daycare cancelled for snow and LO getting sick. Plus we're all just stir crazy being stuck in the house, and of course with a 2 year old, there's no such thing as just curling up with a book anymore (unless it's reading 9 chapters of Curious George in a row).

This year started off not so bad but I can feel myself getting into a funk again and I want to try to nip it in the bud. What do you guys do to not go crazy in winter?
