@LMOG47: Thanks to @Mrs. Twine: it was stupid easy to make :) And it was delicious, tart but delicious. I have a similar experience with blenders until now so making this smoothie was great confidence booster.

Let me know what you come up with later! ;)

@NaturallyCathy: I asked her for the most simple, a-child-can-make this type smoothie ideas since I'm apparently a retard when it comes to dumping things in a blender.
Her basic suggestions for me were to use variations of frozen/fresh fruits, yogurt, coconut or almond milk (which is too fancy for me at this point) & fruit juice or agave/maple syrup to sweeten
Yours looked delish btw! Makes me want to try to make one tonight!

3 cups of orange juice, one bag (16 oz or 2 cups) of frozen mixed berries, and a scoop of frozen strawberry yogurt. The results? Smooth enough to sip. A little crunchy because of the seeds. A little sour because of the orange juice. Might try some apple juice next time or another scoop of frozen yogurt.

ETA: Tart would be a better word. Not bad, just not as sweet as I like!

I love smoothies. I usually make mine with OJ, frozen berries, a banana, & Greek yogurt. I'm not sure on exact measurements, but probably 1 cup juice, 1/2 cup yogurt, 1 cup berries & a small banana. I also add a handful of spinach if I have some. Easy way to get another veggie for the day & you can't taste it!

@Looch; I hate change, so Mr. T always has to remind me that if I try something and don't like it, I don't have to do it that way again. I really like my suppers, though. I'd be happy to help you fine tune if you want after you've tried it a couple of times!

@NaturallyCathy; You can store them. They will separate if you just refrigerate them, and they won't will have more of a thick juice consistency. I prefer to freeze them so that they can thaw just enough to have the smoothie consistency I prefer.
@Looch; I usually cook for lunch, since Mr. T is able to be home most days. So for supper we all eat different things. I eat a salad or a smoothie, and everyone else eats either leftovers or something fast and easy (like an omelet). We all eat together at the table. We will usually heat up everyone's food, put it in the oven on 'keep warm' so that it can all go to the table at the same time, and then set the table and all sit and eat together.

@Mrs. Twine: mostly about what the other members of the family eat...I feel weird about not eating a "normal" dinner and had these visions of family meals, but that's just not our life at the moment.

My son is a pain when it comes to eating, so it doesn't really matter to him if we're all eating the same thing or not.

okay, so I'd add more liquid. Say, three cups? If it doesn't blend well, just add more until it will. We broke down and got a vitamix because I like my smoothies THICK and I kept breaking blenders. ;) Don't want to break yours!

@Mrs. Twine: The most basic of blenders. Gifted from my parent's kitchen a year ago.

Eta: Sorry for the dust, first time coming out of storage since we moved four months ago. Needs a good cleaning first!

@Looch; What do you want to know? One reason I do is because they are typically lower calorie than other meals I might eat, and we eat pretty hearty for lunch most days. Another reason is because it helps me get my daily fruits/veggies in a palatable way. I think about what I might have been short on in the rest of the days' eating, and then throw stuff in to compensate. So I might put different colored fruits, or broccoli, spinach, kale, carrots, bell peppers... whatever. really. The kids and Mr. T eat other food and get a little smoothie, too (the kids get fresh; poor Mr. T gets whatever the kids left over from the day before).

I like orange juice. I also like thick smoothies. What sort of blender are you using? If it can handle it and you like thick, I'd use about an ice cream's scoop worth of frozen yogurt, about two cups worth of OJ, and about two cups of berries (mix 'em however you want). That should make you a nice, thick (and yummy) smoothie. I don't usually like milk in mine. I have a smoothie for supper pretty much every day.

@NaturallyCathy: haha, I see...well, it's not chemicals, so nothing is going to blow up. OJ works good in smoothies to give it sweetness. Hopefully someone here can give you better pointers. I would have just blended it all up! lol
