I had the PISA. It was fine until LO was around 8 or 9 months but around that time, my supply dropped and also the motor seemed to be wearing down. I ended up having to rent a hospital grade pump to get us through until the end. Not sure if the other pumps are better (haven't tried them) but just wanted to share my experience.

I got the Medela freestyle my first pregnancy and actually chose to get another one for this pregnancy. I loved it and never had any issues. I like that it's a closed system which prevents any contamination and the suction levels are great

I didn't get the tote for the PISA because it was an additional charge, like your insurance. Now that I tried to take the pump with me somewhere, I'm wishing is gotten the bag. The pump is heavy and it'll be a pain to gage it in and out of my bag every time I need to pump at work. My understanding of the tote bag is there is a compartment in the side that gives access to the controls. I'm seriously considering buying one before I go back to work.

Freestyle for sure.

I've used both the freestyle and the pump in style and the freestyle is worth every extra penny.

I voted for the pisa which is what I had. And while it doesn't come with a battery option, you can still purchase one on your own, which is what I did.

The only pump I had was the Ameda. I was not a fan, I never seemed to get as much as others and needed to pump for a much longer time to get a decent amount (and I never had any supply issues). We combo fed with formula and I didn't pump that often so I never bothered to try to get another one.

I had the exact same choices as you and went for the Ameda because it was free. It's working great for me.

I was interested in the Freestyle but the lactation consultant I spoke to at the hospital said the suction on that one wasn't as good as the PISA or the Spectra.

I love my freestyle, but I have a long commute and used to pump in the car on the way to and back from work - so it was totally worth it for me.

I have all four of these pumps. Pumped exclusively with my first for ten months. Two months into my second. Freestyle. Hands down.

I bought the freestyle and for the portability alone it makes it worth it! During leave especially! I also have the generic double by Medela and haven't had issues either. I use both regularly through two babies!

I also got the ameda w my second pregnancy because I wanted to try a closed system. But I haven't even touched it.

I'm a soon-to-be FTM who is planning on going back to work when my LO is about 9 weeks. I work at the daycare where my child will also be attending, so I'm not sure how much milk I'll need to pump and store, or if I can just drop the fresh milk off in his or her room.
My insurance is giving me four choices of breast pumps.
The Medela Pump in style Advanced starter set,
the Ameda Purely yours Dual electric Personal Double Pump,
the Medela Pump In Style Advanced Breastpump Tote or Backpack,
and the Medela Freestyle Breastpump.

The last two pumps are an additional charge, but I am fine with that if they are offering me more connivence. I am not sure there is any real benefit to getting the Medela with the tote, as it looks like the same model that is offered to me for free. It looks like the Freestyle is the only pump that is battery operated, which is a huge plus as their isn't a great place to pump at work, and finding a place to plug in could be a problem.

Which pump would you choose?
For those of you who have the Freestyle, is it worth the extra money?
