@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: yup! I plan to put my cell down. I don't know any of the parents outside of day care, except one. So it would be a lot of work for the teachers to collect emails for me. I think paper invite with my cell & email is the easiest all around. :) No paper RSVP.

^ Yeah, I prefer paper invites but have noticed I get better responses when I use evites, especially since you can send out notices to those that haven't RSVPd in a not so bothersome way.

I would aim for about 7-10 days for RSVPs and friendly note that the facility requires a headcount. Maybe 4 weeks in advance for family and 3 weeks in advance for B-list?

I've never had luck with B-list things bc I always end up getting more than expected with the A's, and then feel weird inviting people last minute...

I have noticed if you make it really easy on people, they'll RSVP right away. I know I will RSVP right away if it's via evite, for example. If I have to call you, it takes me much longer and I am likely to completely forget.

@regberadaisy: I would let family know you have limited space and to pls check their calendars now - they wont do that for you?

In my group of friends we are always giving out dates WAY in advance - once its on the calendar they cant make other plans

I think 1 week is plenty - either they can go or they cant - no reason they need weeks to decide

@Mamaof2: you don't think the one week RSVP time is too short? My family can make a difference of 8 people! There's no way they will tell me yes or no this early. I'll be lucky to get a definite answer by two weeks before. They drive me crazy sometimes!

@mauxie: I don't think so? Her class is fairly large, 18-20 kids. And we don't all pick up/drop off at the same time. I'm doing paper invites and will ask her teacher to distribute. Otherwise I'll drop in their cubbies.

I would probably ask immediate family and really close friends today - get those numbers firm now and then work on the rest of your list.

Usually RSVP's are due the week before the party - so 7 days - if you need 10 days for List A and B to be done then A would need to reply days before the final head count is due.

So:

Group A - send out 4/6 with RSVP by 4/13

Group B - send out 4/13 with rsvp by 4/20

Do you think the daycare parents/kids would notice if they are invited as different times?

Also, are you doing paper invites, or evite/email?

Help a mama out. I'm thinking about doing a A and B list for DD's birthday party. There are space constraints in the party room.

Her party is on 4/30 so I want all RSVPs by 4/15 because final #s are due back 10 days before the party. I want a few extra days to hunt RSVPs down.

What dates would you send /hand out invites for the A list. What RSVP date for A list?
What dates then for the B list?

If it makes a difference A list friends will be immediate family, close friends of ours and DD's closest daycare friends that she picks. B list guest would be other daycare friends that we also think should be invited for various reasons.

I want to make sure everyone has enough time to decide yes or no. without sending out invites way too early as well.

Thank you!
