@daniellemybelle: honestly, I would ha ve her evaluated by an ent who can tell you what the procedure would be like, if se even has a tie.

I guess the way I look at it is, if she does have the tie that could easily be causing her gas issues, fussiness, etc. So the option is to either treat the symptoms or treat the cause. For me, I would much rather address the main issue--knowing that even if it didn't erase all the symptoms, I at least tried something that might help somewhat. But of course you're the mama, you have to decide what's right for you!

I think @Kemma's lo had a Tt lasered at 8 wks?

@Foodnerd81: I do try to hold her upright... Thank you for the reassurance. I keep telling myself, this too shall pass. It's hard when you feel like you can't enjoy them though :(

@hilsy85: Thanks! I admit I am just really hesitant to even explore it, even though I suspect a tie, because I don't want her to undergo any kind of procedure. She's 8.5 weeks now, so it would be more intensive than a newborn. I guess I want to see if anything else can help first!

@daniellemybelle: have yo had her evaluated by an ENT? My LO had a posterior tongue tie and lip tie and they both absolutely affected nursing and his ability to latch. I had the tt cut at 2 weeks and it was the simplest procedure ever. How old is your LO? As they get older it can be done with a laser and sometimes with a slight anesthetic. It literally saved my ability to nurse, my supply, and my boobs!

The stretches afterward are literally 90 seconds a few times a day. Not at all a big deal!

I'm just going to post this thread as it might be helpful for you. http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/high-needs-colicky-acid-reflux-babies

I know you've posted about your LO being fussy and high needs, so I wonder if this could help with that issue! I don't mean to pressure at all but I just know this was so important for me to be able, to continue to nurse my LO.

Are you holding her upright after feeding? It's possible there is some reflux going on too so holding her up to your shoulder could help a bit. I wish I had more to help you because I know exactly how hard it is. Someone posted on here something that has realy stuck with me: the only way out is through. It won't be like this forever, it's just a blip even of her babyhood, but it sure seems to last forever when you are in the thick of it.

@Kemma: I Youtubed the clicking sound & she doesn't make it, though she sometimes fusses at the breast & so I know she doesn't have a great seal if she's able to make house while nursing.

We use the Gerber Soothe probiotics with no noticeable impact. We do lots of colic massage, bicycle legs, etc.

@hilsy85: I think her tie is posterior - her frenulum is normal. That's a pretty invasive procedure & it doesn't always improve latch. You have to do lots of stretches & things after in order for it to work. I just don't think it's worth it right now... At least until we have exhausted all our options.

@daniellemybelle: if you think she has a tongue tie, can I ask why you haven't gotten it clipped? That would probably make a huge difference for her!

@daniellemybelle: does your LO make a clicking noise while nursing? If she is, she's probably taking in air while eating which could be causing the gas.

Have you tried probiotics or gentle tummy massage in a clockwise direction? Gentle treatment by a chiropractor or Osteopath can also help.

My Lo had terrible gas pains for a while. She would arch her back and stiffen up, and start screaming ten minutes after she ate. It was so sad. We started given her gas drops in between sides with every feeding, and gripe water on the especially bad nights. I tried cutting all dairy for a week, then we had to give her previously pumped milk and there was no difference so don't think it was that. I cut out spicy or gassy foods, even though I hear what you eat usually doesn't affect them that much.

Eventually she just outgrew it. I don't really think anything else I was doing helped. I'm sorry you are dealing with this.

My poor baby passes so much gas, and I can tell her tummy hurts. She has always been fussy but the prolific farting is new. It coincided with starting herbal supplements to increase my milk supply but I have stopped them with no improvement. Gas drops help somewhat but I have to be religious.

It's tricky because we combination feed, so it could be my breastmilk or her formula or both. I also think she has a posterior tongue tie which could be causing her to take in air while eating.

Could it be MSPI if her only symptom is gas? She spits up but not a ton. How would I even try to figure it out? Cut dairy & change her formula at the same time?
