@.twist.: does that mouth wash soothe them too? I had her use it tonight and I actually didn't have to fight with her about how she has to go to bed even though she has a boo-boo

@Synchronicity: YES. Although, I find stress AND sugar cankers the worst. 2 weeks and they are huge! I just got over one too, and it was gone in a few days after using that mouthwash. I love it.

@littleblessings: I don't think you can "know" if your kid will get them a lot or not. Neither of my parents or brother get them at all and I have gotten them since I can remember. Just bad luck I guess.

Thank you for all the tips. I didn't think little ones got cankers so I was far from prepared!

I get them all the time and rinse with warm salt water a few times a day and they're gone within 48 hours. It doesn't burn so I assume you could do the q tip trick if your afraid of swallowing!

@littleblessings: wanted to add, poor kid :( I sometimes use a numbing gel (orajel makes one for cankers) but it really stings to apply. Swishing with warm salt water helps a bit.

@.twist.: I just discovered that mouthwash a few months ago and it has honestly been a life changer. I have a canker right now that is literally the size of a dime... It hurt so damn bad to talk and eat and drink even water. Three days of using that stuff and it's on its way out! They used to hang around for 2 to 3 WEEKS.

Does anyone else find stress cankers to be on a whole different level? Like if I bite my cheek and get a canker, it usually only lasts a week. Stress related cankers last for 2 to 3, easily. Wtf?!

I get those, usually from mouth trauma (when I bite my lip or cheek). They used to reeeeeeeally bother me, and I would have to take Advil to get them to stop throbbing. Then I discovered that if I take some lysine -- it's a vitamin supplement -- right when the trauma occurs, then they barely hurt at all. It was a real game changer for me.

I don't know if lysine is safe to give a 3yo though.

@littleblessings: If she can spit I wouldn't worry! I would have her rinse a bit more and if you get that mouthwash I was talking about it doesn't sting or hurt I actually really like it!

I have a giant one right now. I get them often and my triggers are being sick, stressed, or too much citrus or sugar. I put white vinegar on a q tip and hold it to the spot a few times a day. Makes it go away much faster!!! It burns at first but it's a lesser burn than before. And it heals much much faster

@.twist.: @MrsSRS: she uses mouth wash on a regular basis and she always spits it all out. She I have her start doing more rinses til it's gone?

@hellobeeboston: going to give her cold milk right now. Thank you!

@MrsSCB: yeah. I feel so bad. I get them a lot so I know how she feels but I can handle the pain. She can't. I just hope she's a fast healer!

You can put some of that mouthwash on a q-tip and dab it on so you don't have to worry about spitting it all out.

Yikes, that is the worst! I get terrible ones from occasionally biting the inside of my lip while eating. Have one right now, actually :meh: Is there some sort of orajel-type product for small children? Sometimes the only thing that provides relief is just numbing the area.

ETA: Sorry, just saw the teething gel part so I'm not at all helpful...I just hope she starts feeling better soon!

@littleblessings: Yea, you don't want her swallowing that, but if she can do the swish and spit, I think it would help her a lot. Poor girl, I can totally relate. :(

UGH! That is the worst. Does she drink a lot of juice? Or eat a lot of citrusy fruits? Candy? Anything like that you could cut out?

I get chronic canker sores and they are the worst so I really sympathize with her. Does she know how to swish and spit?

This mouth wash has been a LIFESAVER for me with my canker sores. I don't get them as often any more. I don't even use it on a regular basis, just when I feel a sore starting and use it through till the sore is gone.

I don't know exactly where to put this. My DD is 3 and has been crying that her mouth hurts. I never saw anything before but now I see that she has a canker sore. I honestly don't know what to do for her. She just keeps crying. I have given her Tylenol and teething gel for pain and that's not cutting it. Please helpppppppp!!!!!!
