@LovelyPlum: APNO is amazing! It was the only thing that healed me when I was cracked and bleeding. You need to get a Rx for it and fill it at a compounding pharmacy.

@NorCalWayfarer: @Mrs. Tiger: I'll have to go get some lanolin. It can't hurt, at least.

@Mrs.Someone: Magic, you say? Seriously, though, I may do just this. Bloody nipples are awful.

@twodoghouse: :crying: Oh Mama, I'm sorry. I really thought we were past all this, but nope. Ugh. These babies need to teethe on something else!

@MrsKoala: Thank you! I did hand express for a bit. I am crazy full right now, though, so I am about to bite the bullet with the pump on the lowest setting.

I'M HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I actually ended up with a bleb on my nipple which ended up with one side hard as a rock this morning full of clogged ducts. I read online they can be caused by nipple trauma, which I am definitely having. I'm just trying to latch and re latch him because he keeps pulling paway to chew instead of eat. I've also been having Alice nurse the bad side, but I know that's not an option for you.

I hated the feel of lanolin, get a script for APNO, it's magic!

Agree with lanolin. I like the lanisoh brand, it was very thick! Good luck mama :(

Ouch! Lanolin, air dry and pumping is what has always helped me with nipple issues ;-) Earth Mama was nice, but didn't help -- the only thing that helped me was Lanolin! And pulling LO off the boob if he uses teeth to try to get a better latch.

How about hand expressing a little bit? Maybe only pump/nurse on that side every other feeding? It keeps the supply up and lessens the chance of mastitis since you are expressing but gives the nipple a chance to heal.

LO used to bite me as well and it hurt like the dickens. Even now he does it sometimes at the end. I remember cringing every time he nursed and every time I pumped. Do you have Lanolin? I thought that helped more in terms of healing.

LO is almost 11 months old, and she has been teething HARD the last few days/weeks/months. I have done my best to prevent her from using me as a teether while we nurse, but apparently, my efforts have been in vain.

Yesterday, as soon as she pulled off after our early morning session, I saw a stream of blood trickling out of her mouth. After a brief but intense panic, I realized that it was coming from my left nipple. She seemed unphased, but we switched sides nonetheless. I put Earth Mama nipple butter on it and tried to give it some air. It seemed to help, because a later pumping session was blood-free. This morning's nursing wasn't, however, and my last pump resulted in very pink and very bloody milk :bummed:

So what do I do? I'm about 3 weeks away from pump weaning, and I'm not super concerned about having enough to get there. I'm more worried that this late in the game, if I don't pump or nurse on the left, I will lose my supply, get mastitis, or both. I'm not ready to call it quits yet. Any suggestions?
