I'd call your OB to get a list of okay OTC meds to take while pregnant. I know there's one Robitussin you're not suppose to take. My OB gave me a list when I went in for my first appointment with both of my kids. Still, I called to confirm anyway.

I know the feeling as I've been coughing for the last two weeks myself, but I'm not pregnant so I've been taking meds. I also eat a tablespoon full of honey right before bed to help with the cough. It's helped a lot. Also, have you tried to sleep with your arms raised above your head? When I took my oldest in to see a doctor a few weeks ago that doctor joking said something about sleeping with his arms raised up high. I tried it while sleeping after I got sick and it actually helped! I thought he was kidding.

Hope you feel better soon!

Lots of water!
If it's a wet cough the water will thin the mucus faster so you cough it up and get it out more efficiently and get over it quickly.

I have the same cough and constantly have to drink water/have a cough drop in. I haven't tried any medicine, but maybe I should. It sucks!

@locavore_mama: Mine was like that, too...i chalked it up to the extra fluids that pregnancy gives me anyways. I've been sneezing the whole pregnancy, just as a usual side effect for me, but that cough was really bad!

@Dandelion: Thanks! I have been coughing up phlegm which is VERY weird for me. Mine is more of a dry tickling cough which makes me wonder if it's actually a "allergy" cough like I got a few years back. Which then the only thing that worked was Robitussin DM + Benaydrl

@locavore_mama: The one without the expectorant. I just wanted to dry up and not cough up tons of crud.

@Dandelion: I am almost there. I'm at the point where I'm scared I'm doing more harm by coughing so violently! Did you use Robitussin DM?

I think mucinex is ok, but double check. Robitussin DOES help a lot. I had to resort to that a few weeks ago, cause it hurt my pelvis so much to cough.

Please help. I've been sick for over a week and although I generally feel better now my cough has gotten much worse.

It's keeping me up at night, even sleeping sitting up. I am coughing so hard my throat hurts and so does my chest. I almost threw up twice this morning from bile rising up.
I have done hot tea with honey and lemon and it's not helping much.

I'm just about 8 weeks along so I'm not comfortable taking Robitussum even though a nurse at the OB's office suggested it.

Help!
