We stayed at both the Marriott and the Omni in Woodley Park last August, and the Omni was nicer, if older.

Find a house in Cleveland Park or just north of the Cathedral above Wisconsin Ave. in Cathedral Heights. You will probably need to call cabs but it's so muggy you won't want to walk or Metro anyway in wedding finery.

I was going to offer the same suggestions, and another +1 on the Omni Shoreham. I don't know if you're driving, but you will be looking at expensive parking at any hotel. We have an annual conference at Omni every year, and it's right across the street from the metro, and on the red line. Great neighborhood, close to the zoo, train, neat little restaurants.

I've stayed at the Omni Shoreham and it's nice - a little outdated, but massive and pretty in an old-fashioned way (which I love!) There are several good deals on Priceline if you search for DuPont Circle hotels. I picked "name your price" and I can't remember what it was (this was like 4 years ago), but we got a great deal to stay there. There's also an amazing playground near the National Cathedral - it's part of their school I believe. That's my favorite area of DC!

Look into Parking Panda for better parking rates.

But Parking at the Omni is insanely expensive! (I don't know about rates to stay there, but was there for a conference and it was $40 a day)

^ All that. Woodley Park and Cleveland Park are immediately surrounding. You could probably expand to Tenleytown/Friendship Heights to the north and Dupont Circle to the south as well. If you'll be using metro, all would keep you on the red line. Just be aware that it's several blocks to the Cathedral from the nearest metro stop (I think that's Cleveland Heights stop).

Good luck -- they aren't cheap neighborhoods and I would imagine the prices may reflect that. There is a massive hotel at Woodley Park, Omni Shoreham I think. You might be able to snag a decent deal because of its size.

Generally, you want to be in NW. Woodley Park and Cleveland Park are the neighborhoods right near there and are very nice. The zoo is in woodley park of you're into that sort of thing! There are a lot of great neighborhoods that are metro accessible. Just depends how
Close you want to be. You could check out Georgetown, too.

We are going to a wedding in DC this summer. The wedding will be held near Washington cathedral, so I would like to find a place to stay near there. There will be 5 adults and a toddler, so I thought about renting a condo or something on airbnb/vrbo, but I have no idea which neighborhoods to search! I am also trying to research mid-range hotels, but I still don't know which areas to search. Help please!
