@Mamaof2: I use a glycolic serum, let dry, and then the oil alone, no mixing or additional moisturizer. It looks pretty greasy at first but absorbs by the time I get into bed and I kind of like the feeling. I'm 36 and my skin looks better than it did when I turned 30 (less redness and flakes).

@Academicsocialite: do you mix it with lotion or add alone? If alone, do you moisturize after?

Late to the game, but I highly recommend marula oil for dry/rosacea-prone skin. I splurged on the Drunk Elephant line at Sephora ($$$ but I'm in love), but Acure does an inexpensive dupe of the oil that can be found via Amazon and Target too, I think. It gets great ratings from Paula's Choice which is my go-to for all things skincare.

I was going to suggest oil cleansing followed by a gentle cleanser. I use a combo of Burt's bees oil and Cetaphil, which has helped tremendously. Then I slap on a heavy nighttime moisturizer (Origins Night-A-Mins). Bonus: use a humidifier in your bedroom.

@Coral: @Mamaof2: For rosacea, I can't recommend mild laser treatments enough . . . Iridex, or my favorite, Clear & Brilliant. There is no down time (other than looking a little red for a couple of hours post-treatment) and the results are nothing short of amazing.

I have read that you need a two part system to attract and retain moisture. So a serum and a cream.

I also have had great results with Missha essence and snail mucin creams.

I've been using macadamia oil by thursday plantation for my very dry skin on my body, but it can also be used on your face.

I have very dry skin and I've had to do a bunch of OTC stuff because my skin condition is not serious enough to require medication, but it's annoying/itchy and unsightly.

I use avocado oil (food grade from Costco) and a wash cloth to wash my face. And I even use old school Pond's cold cream (I rub it on my dry face and wipe it off with a warm wash cloth). My night routine is to use the cold cream.

When I have a bad pimple I put Neosporin on it and it helps a lot.

And I use a Korean moisturizer that I learned about from a blog post on here! I like that it's not pricey. https://www.amazon.com/Nature-Republic-Super-Moisture-Watery/dp/B007VL84H2

I have found I can't use products made for acne because they're just too drying for my skin. I have also moved around a lot and I've found that the water hardness makes a huge difference in my skin. When there's really hard water my skin just goes nuts. If possible you might try washing your face with filtered water? Or getting a water softener. We rent so I've just had to manage.

I also went through a couple years where I altered my diet to see if it was a food intolerance issue and it didn't help. But I only did major ones like gluten, processed sugar, dairy, and soy.

Neocutis (avail through Amazon) is an excellent heavy cream moisturizer. I first learned about it from my Derm. Neocutis in combination with a warm mist humidifier really helps to keep my skin hydrated.

I also love Tatcha's Luminous Dewy Skin Mist for a hydrating boost during the day (especially if I run the space heater in my office--it leeches moisture from my skin).

Hello, all!

My skin is extremely dry, tends to be acne prone, and I have rosacea. I went to the dermatologist and got nowhere with a pretty pointless visit. :bummed: My skin is flaky and even if I put on rich moisturizers at night, my skin is completely matte in the morning. Please help with skin care solutions (primarily creams but I will take any suggestions), I would prefer something I can get from the drug store or amazon but am open. Nothing crazy expensive. I am really desperate.
