@Mrs. Lion: Awww so sorry you are dealing with this :( Sounds like you are taking the right steps, we don't normally use bleach either but with the GI bug its a must. My DH was sick when I came home with LO2 after my C section and I was miserable and furious. Sounds like you are keeping your spirits up and I hope the worst of it is over and you can get some rest soon!

@Mrs. Lion: ok, thanks! I'm going to Lysol wipe everything in the am as a precaution! My floor steamer crapped out but we have a handheld. I'm going to steam the $hit out of the couch, carpet, rugs, doorknobs and counters!!!

Sounds like you're doing the best you can. I know you have a newborn bit I would suggest not having anyone over until a week after the last person feels better. We had it for 40 days in December - January. It was hell. I'm sorry!!

@regberadaisy: ugh I honestly don't know if thtat what it is for sure...it's just the most common stomach bug j guess (according to google) and seems like the nastiest so I figured if I took precautions to get rid of it anything else would be covered :) I am bleaching surfaces and doorknobs and bathrooms, and taking lo's diapers out to the big trash immediately instead of leaving them in the trashcan inside. We are using disposable until it passes so I don't have to try to sanitize the cloth ones. Ick. I also sprayed the couches and area rugs with lysol...we don't have any carpet, so hopefully I can sanitize the hardwoods with our steamer. I hope your family doesn't all get it! This has been rough!

Thanks everyone! Hiring professionals may be my next step if this doesn't knock it out. I'm losing my mind!

How do you know it's norovirus and not just a regular stomach bug or flu?

DH came down with something yesterday. He was fine in the morning but by late morning he was weak, running to the bathroom, abdominal and back pain. Sweating one second and freezing the next. I washed his comforter in warm water but should I be bleaching all surfaces he touches? The girls are still getting over Bronchiolitis and ear infection. I really don't need them sick again!

@Mrs. Lion: Ditto to the others, it's the worst! We had it go through our house too, right after a set of colds and Roseola. We sanitized the heck out of it, and am hopeful that with Spring here it's gone for good!

I agree 100% with @blackbird. Everything should be cleaned, sheets and clothes all washed, all toys, baby gear and hard surfaces sanitized. Hiring professional cleaners might be with it. Keep everyone hydrated! Good luck!

It happened to a friend of mine--she got it 3 times in 27 days. It's been awful. You have to bleach all your hard surfaces and wash everything in hot water, bleach where you can. You might want to hire a company to come out and clean for you. I had something a couple months ago and our cleaning ladies did a number on the house. Maybe renting a really hot steamer for the carpets is the way to go. Noro kicks up and spreads super easily.

You guys, it's bad over here. In the last 3 weeks my son has gotten sick and better 3 times, and my husband has twice. I think I got a mild case once, but otherwise have been okay. I think my newborn also had it for a day. In addition, the kiddos' immune systems have been down and they both caught colds. I am in Norovirus hell.

Please tell me how to get rid of this. I usually clean with just soap and water, but today bought some bleach spray cleaner and lysol. Do I need to wash all of the bedding (any contaminated bedding has been cleaned as we go, but what about seemingly clean bedding?) How about the floors and rugs? Do they need to be sanitized somehow?

Seriously. I have a 4 week old and the last 3 weeks have been a constant rotation of sickness. I am going nuts, and somehow the one who is supposed to be recovering from a c-section is taking care of everyone! :meh:
