Honestly, at almost 4 months you may be experiencing the dreaded 4 month sleep regression. For us, that lasted like 3 weeks of being up every couple hours. So your LO's sleep problems may not be entirely from moving to the crib. We did whatever it took just to get through the bad nights, including going back to swaddling and the Rock n' Play when the crib just wasn't happening.

We did the sleep sack with arms out to transition for a few nights, but we discovered our daughter liked to sleep on her belly and it was harder for her to roll with her legs caught up in the sleep sack, so we ended up just putting her down in jammies or a zip-up sleeper and then she could roll right over. That worked the best for us. Good luck to you!!

Do you have a halo sleep sack with the swaddle arms? We used that when we transitioned from the swaddle- we wrapped the arms part around her chest so it was still tight feeling but her arms were free. I wouldn't keep swaddling if she's rolling, just seems too dangerous. It might get worse fr a night or two before it gets better but hopefully he will adjust quickly!

Alright. So, my son will be 4 months old next week. He has been able to roll from back to belly for a few weeks now. He's been sleeping great swaddled in the RnP, with usually one brief waking around 4am to eat and straight back to sleep for another 2-3 hours. He's a crappy napper but that's semi manageable.

Tonight is night 4 of the crib. First two nights we tried the Merlin suit and it did not go well. I figured that was maybe too much change for him so last night I swaddled him. He did much better, although there was a screaming (and I mean screaming) fit around 12:15. My husband was able to coax him back to sleep (no nursing!) and he woke again around 5:30. But he had managed to flip to his belly. I didn't think he could roll without the use of his arms. My husband said he looked comfortable and had his head turned to the side.

I don't know what to do. I don't feel like he is ready to sleep without the swaddle but if he is rolling over I'm not "supposed" to swaddle him, right? He's back in the Merlin suit tonight. His days have been rough because he's so overtired. His voice is hoarse from screaming. It's horrible for everyone involved and I feel so bad. What do I do?
