@mrswagon: I'll try that tonight... I usually jump at the first peep. He won't take a pacifier, but he definitely needs to learn how to be a little more independent at night.

@deannab1: is he crying when he wakes up? I would say unless he's crying and escalating, to leave him in the crib to work it out for himself. If he is crying and it's escalating, obviously you have to go get him... but maybe you can soothe him back to sleep without getting him out of the crib? A pacifier usually did it for Wagon Jr.

@thehistoryofus: for the initial wake up, I usually nurse him and then put him back in his crib. He will go to sleep for 10-15 mins and then wakes up again. I'll rock him back to sleep, 10-15 mins go by and he's back up again. We repeated this routine for 4 hours last night before I just said screw it and turned on the tv. We watched an episode of Greys anatomy, he was happy and wide awake for about 45 mins and then as soon as he showed signs of tiredness, I put him back in his crib where he slept for 5 hours. Sooooo frustrating!

When DS wakes up in the middle of night for no reason (i.e. he isn't hungry), we just leave him in his crib and go back to sleep. If he starts crying, we'll go in and put him back to sleep, but if he's just awake, we leave him by himself.

It took him about a week of rolling around before he stopped waking up night to practice.

Yes, rolling could be the issue. When up in the middle of the night what do you do?

My 4 Month old has always been a fantastic sleeper, waking only once or twice through the night. On Sunday we returned from spending a week with family and ever since we got back we've been having major sleep issues. He falls asleep easily, but about 3 hours into the night, he wakes up and will not go back down for hours and hours. He's currently been awake for 5 hours, he's never even awake that long during the day! Any suggestions on how to remedy the situation? I go back to work in a week and will not be able to function on just a few hours sleep or nap during the day to make up for missed sleep. LO has recently started rolling, which I think may be contributing to the problem. Any advice is appreciated!
