We had a similar story - really good sleep early on that went to hell at 5 months. We don't do CIO, so mostly we just suffered through it. We night weaned at 13 months. Since she turned two her sleep has been much better, STTN half the time one easy wakeup the rest. But we had some bad sleep before then.

Yeah and we did CIO for them. She only cried about 20 min tops.

@blackbird: did your LO have multiple wake-ups prior to CIO? How did you handle them?

@rahlyrah: thanks! I am usually the patient one in this family, so when MY patience is waning, I know we are in trouble!

We did CIO for 2 weeks. She was able to go down initially with minimal fuss, no checks by night 4 ( success there!), but NO progress with wake-ups, and we just couldn't handle the crying (and guilt!) anymore. So now we are currently PUPD for wake-ups.

I must have done something wrong for CIO, lol.

How long did you stick with those methods? We sleep trIned right before six months and did CIO (which was life changing by the way so judgey mc judgersons can suck it lol) and it took a few days to stick. It was two steps forward, one back. On day four I thought it wasn't working but then she had it down pat by the end of the week.

Here's the backstory... sorry for the length!

LO (6 months now) was a GREAT sleeper until about 4.5-5 months. She would only wake once to eat, then right back to sleep. Then, something changed. Regression maybe? Here is what our nights look like now:

She will sleep 2 hours, then wake up. She will be awake for approximately 1.5-2 hours, then back to sleep. She will wake up every 30-45 minutes for the rest of the night. If we are lucky, we will get one more 2 hour stretch.

Here is what we have tried (don't judge!):

CIO: worked great for getting her to sleep initially. She can put herself to sleep at bedtime, but no matter how long we let her cry, she has not figured out how to put herself to sleep after a wake-up.

Pick up-put down: we tried this for the night wake-ups, and it was marginally better than CIO. She still wakes every 30-45 min, but will go back to sleep quicker.

Lovey: we have established a lovey, but I am still scared to let her sleep with it. I did give it to her a few times (while I watched on the monitor), and she seemed to be trying to soothe herself during wake-ups, but she was ultimately unsuccessful.

I guess I should mention that she does use a paci, and she can almost put it in independently if she can find it after it falls out. There are 5 in her crib, just in case!

I just don't know where to go from here, but this sleep is not sustainable. I am not opposed to night feedings, but I don't think that she is *that* hungry. I have been nursing her, but not before a set time. I still think it is mostly comfort at that time, so I am confident that I'm not starving her.

Help! Suggestions? What other methods are out there? What am I doing wrong?
