@Mrs. Lion: so interesting that you mention that because LO's language has been off the charts this week! He has always had a good amount of words but now he repeats everything we say and literally adds at least one new word per day. Just in the last 2 days he added square, snack, squirrel, wolf, blanket, and neck!

My little man went through some weird sleep issues too around that time. I think it was wonder week/language explosion related. It lasted about a week and then his vocabulary more than doubled in the following month, from 6ish words to 14/15, with a lot of attempted repeating. Once the language boom started the sleep got better. Milestones have always made his sleep screwy though, sp this was no surprise to us! :) hope you find a solution soon!

Agree for sure about one nap, he's more than old enough for that transition and it sounds like now he is pretty much insisting on it! L is 15 months, and he wakes up around 7 and takes his nap at about 11:30.

@cmomma17: I would just play with it for awhile. Early nap might mean early bedtime till he adjusts. At R's old center she napped 1145-115, bedtime was at 7. Now she naps 1230:200(sometimes 230) and we out her down 700/715 depending on her nap but she usually isn't asleep till 745/800. But she is finally starting to sleep till 7 on a more regular basis.

@cmomma17: He used to nap at 9 & 2 ish. So at first it was just an hour and I slowly followed his cues to push it back. At first I tried pushing it 30 minutes a day and it was a DISASTER. It made juggling snack/lunch a little weird, but after the 2 week transition it was easy.

@scg00387: when you started out the transition, how big was the time difference between old nap time and new nap time? Like if everyone is used to putting down LO at 8:30 what should we try? An hour later, 2 hours, 3?

Definitely one nap time, I'd guess. During the transition we started nap at 10 and bedtime was crazy early, like 6 pm because nap was short. It slowly lengthened and got later after two weeks.

@Smurfette: thanks for sharing, I appreciate it. I guess we'll ride it out a few days to see if it's just a phase. Then we'll try a later in the day nap. C is always up by 6ish.

@cmomma17: She moved to one nap at day care a week after her 1st bday due to moving rooms. She still took two (most weekends) at home for 2-3 months. R wakes up between 6-7, sometimes later. She goes down for a nap at 1230 (lunch is 1130/1200) But she will fall asleep in the car if we let her, it out and about, in the am. All depends on the day and how early she woke up. We don't let her fall asleep in the car if we can help it cause then she won't take a real nap. She only naps 1.5-2hrs these days. Lately the shorter side.

@Smurfette: I am really curious about the 2 to 1 nap transition. Has R done this yet? Do they have a way of handling it at daycare?

C has typically gone down for his morning nap about 1.5 - 2.5 hours after waking up in the morning ... I wonder if he is transitioning, then how long should we wait to put him down? Or when would his one nap happen, before or after lunch? So confusing! :silly:

Could he be moving to one nap? Then was so overtired wouldn't go down for the afternoon nap?

@cmomma17: I definitely would NOT want to do that on my own! The weekend Xander went on his nap strike, there was at least the two of us to tag team him. Really hoping your LO goes back to sleeping tomorrow!!

It might just be a fluke. I remember one weekend where Xander was the same way. He just refused to nap all weekend!! It was ROUGH! But by the next weekend, he was back to normal. Hope the same is true for you.

My 16 month old has decided to quit naps out of the blue! HELP!

He was at home with my mom yesterday and she couldn't get him to sleep AT ALL. Made two attempts. Morning nap - nope! Afternoon nap - nope! She said he may have slept for 30 minutes (the entire day, eek!).
Today he is home with DH and the same thing is happening. Refusing to nap - screaming, crying, big, real tears! :( :( :(

What is the deal? We have given tylenol in case of teething pain (but that hasn't been an issue at all in the past and he has about 6 teeth so far).

Any ideas? No other big changes in his life right now and nighttime sleep is still good/normal.
ETA: His health is also good, he's not sick and just had a great check up at the doctor. He's in a great mood all the time, except when you try to make him nap. He is visibly tired though after being awake all day!
