DD does this sometimes. I leave the light on and the door open and leave her in her crib for a while. She usually lets me know within a few minutes that she's ready to get up. I also offer some diluted juice at such times. If I can get her blood sugar up she usually gets over the bad mood more quickly.

My baby is younger than yours, but he does this when he's very tired. He actually needs to go back down for more sleep!

My LO did that for like 3 or 4 days in a row like a year ago. She was exhausted, would fall asleep during lunch and would wake up screaming. I would go in because I thought something was wrong and she would want me but also fight violently against me. It was weird but eventually stopped.

Oh man my son does this basically every day!! Only time he wakes up happy is if grandparents are visiting, lol. I put on a show, give him a snack and hope he snaps out of it by the time the 22 minut show is over, lol. He screams go away etc when I go in his room too.

My DD does this occasionally... I used to try desperately to get her to come out and have her snack but now I'm just like "whatever" and I go read or clean or something until she calms down and wants to come out. Our apartment is one level so I can hear her from anywhere.

I could have written this! My almost 2 year old has been doing this. Yesterday she woke up cranky and hungry but wouldn't eat anything I offered her- or anything she asked for. She just whined and pulled at me for an hour. Glad to hear it's just a phase!

@nana87 No fun at all! But honestly, I'm not sure how long it lasted, but it did end eventually. It's one of those phases that's barely a memory now... I had actually forgotten about it until I read your post.

Good luck, hang in there! Hopefully it's just a one time thing for you :)

When DD was about that age she went through a phase that was just like that. We called it the "post nap grumpies", haha. It took her about an hour to truly wake up and shake it off, it drove me crazy but nothing I did helped it. Lasted a few months, if I remember correctly (she's now 4).

If she wants to be in her crib, I would let her be in there. Can you sit calmly in a chair in her room with her?

Lo woke up SCREAMING from her nap about half an hour ago and will.not.stop! I know she must be hungry (she fell asleep before eating lunch and slept 2.5 hrs) but she screams "ick! Yucky!" At everything I offer her, including milk, water, squeezy yogurt, etc. she refuses to come out of her crib (I took her out and she ran back and tried to crawl back in...) and yells "go away" when I go in.

Help?!!?? Or commiseration? She's never woke up quite this miserable before, though she's had a few tantrums like this where she is completely out of control (oh, twos....)
