@bushelandapeck:
that is success! what have you been doing? I end up just going in and sitting with her until she falls asleep. The last several nights I am so tired from waiting for her to fall asleep, I just slept on the floor until morning.

@angie: he woke up once last night but was able to put himself back to sleep within a minute or two. I call that a success, but I'm not holding my breath for tonight ;)

@bushelandapeck: Is it better? I am going through the same thing with my 21 month old for the last weeks.

@bushelandapeck: LO's sleep regressions are so random. He's technically been STTN since 6 months old when we sleep trained him. I'm hoping it was a fluke or teeth. DH did the morning routine horribly like giving him a cookie in the highchair. Everything about the morning is quick and quiet. He dressed him in the dark too when I usually open up the shade to make waking up easier. We'll see how tonight goes. He was happy until he got tired and tantrum-y.

Ugh, we had a sleep regression last night. He turns 18 months old this week. I was up with him for a few hours. He did his normal scream fest when he didn't get a cookie. Once he tantrumed, I read him stories and got him to bed. It took him 45 minutes to fall asleep. It was a tough night for us.

Congrats on the pregnancy!! Wishing you mommy to be mojo!

@winniebee: Okay....I guess we will ride it out for another week or so and see how it goes. I want to comfort him but sometimes it works and sometimes he just wants to play. I definitely don't want to create any bad sleep habits.

@bushelandapeck: he did have a small regression and had a hard time going to sleep at night. I had to go in multiple times to shhhhh at bed time or he would get so worked up. It coincides with daylight savings and his naps were horrendous for at least a week.

There's an 18m regression. I would just reinforce good sleep habits and try to ride it out!

okay....it was 3.5 hours last night before he finally fell back to sleep on his own around 2:30am. Anyone have any tips? Does CIO work at 18 months?

@bushelandapeck: what i usually do during a regression is just do whatever the heck works to get LO back to sleep, usually bringing her in bed with us or rocking, etc. During her regressions, she could cry for hours and not fall asleep like she normally does. I usually give it about a week for her to "get over the regression" and give her time to work on whatever it is she is working on, and then if it isn't better by then, I just do a mini sleep training to get her back on track and then it doesn't take long at all.

@NovBaby1112: Thank you! I have read some about the possibility of a regression but nothing really says how to handle it. Do I just keep doing what we're doing, or is that creating bad sleep habits? Sigh. Hopefully someone has some advice.

oh nooo!! I'm sorry mama...I can't imagine dealing with a non sleeping toddler and being pregnant (which i must have missed somewhere...congrats!!!). I have heard of an 18 month sleep regression: http://www.babysleepsite.com/baby-sleep-patterns/why-18-month-sleep-regression-can-be-hardest/

sooo that could be it? No advice really, but I always try to tell myself that these regressions and what not are always temporary and that they will go back to sleeping normally soon enough. My LO went through an awful wonder week a few weeks ago and her sleep really suffered and I was about to lose my mind, but thankfully after a week she was back to normal! Hope your LO gets back to normal soon!! Hopefully some others have better advice!

Okay...this may be long so I apologize in advance. DS is 18 months and has been STTN since he started walking at 9mos. He usually sleeps about 10hrs a night, somewhere between 7:30/8pm-5:30/6am and takes a 1.5-2hr nap each day around noon. He hasn't had an issue falling asleep or putting himself back to sleep since he started STTN. He has all of his teeth except for his 2yr molars.

Starting last Monday, he has been waking up in the middle of the night, crying out "no, no, no" "mama, dada" and standing in his crib. We tried letting him cry, as that usually works after a minute or two, but it's not working. He was awake for 3 and 4 hours two separate nights last week and only went back to sleep when we laid with him on the floor. The second we walk into the room and say "lay down, it's time for sleep", he will, and will fall back asleep so long as we remain in the room. If we try to leave before he falls back asleep, the cycle repeats itself....hence the 4 hours of being awake the other night.

So Bees, help a mama out. I am pregnant and exhausted as it is, and this night waking business is not helping my sanity. Any suggestions or similar experiences? Is this some crazy sleep regression or do we need to sleep train? Thanks!!
