@MegWag: 15£, that's not so bad. I was expecting around 20€...As long as I get it before August, I'll be happy :)

@Chastenet: Sorry it took me so long to reply! Looks like you've got it under control. I think it was 15 pounds shipping, though he did give me free shipping in exchange for talking about the pad on my blog. It took a while for it to arrive, but I LOVE it!

@Crumbs: The Czech retailer replied to my e-mail within a few hours and said it'll be no problem shipping to France. He is going to get back to me with the shipping cost, I'll let you know!

I've given up on the Cooshee and bought the Mebby Jelly instead. It's aight ... it's soft and contoured so it won't be slipping around but the material is super easy to get dirty, so I'll have to cover it up + use a disposable sheet on top. It's better than the flimsy plastic over foam ones so it'll do.

I'd love to hear about how your search goes and how much shipping is from the Czech dealer.

@MegWag: I've been trying to wait it out and order from the US but BabySmart seems to be having a VERY hard time getting this product back in stock...So, I'm going to try to order from the same Czech retailer as you. I was just wondering how much he charged you for shipping? I'll be shipping to France, so I imagine it will be a similar rate as for the UK. Thanks!

@Crumbs: We use the IKEA changing pad covers with ours. I bought 3 packs, so we have 6 in total. I thought it would be cold too, so the compromise was these covers, which have worked out great in the 15 months we've had them.

I also like that the mat stays put, it doesn't budge or wiggle around on the table, which is key now that my son wiggles around during changes.

@Crumbs: The sturdiness issue was why I splurged on the changing mat. I hate those floppy little ones that are so readily available here- it seems like the baby would just wriggle right off! I've only had the mat for about a week, but it wipes off super easily- just a baby wipe or wet cloth does the trick. It doesn't seem to get cold, but I haven't had it that long...

I asked about if they would be available via Amazon UK when I first contacted BabySmart and was told that they were working on it, but were having some problems- so I'm not sure what the outlook for you finding one there is.

Good luck!

So tempting, so so tempting! The thing is we need two of them. 1 for upstairs, near our bedroom/outside the bathroom and another for the baby room downstairs. The plan was to just get the cheapie Ikea ones, but I really want a substantial one for upstairs (where we'll be most of the time) because it'll get the most use.

I'm thinking about getting a Mebby Jelly at £30 but the reviews are really bad - it's supposedly a stain magnet! I'd have to buy disposable changing pads to go on top of it, plus cover it up. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a non-fabric one.

I'm going to wait a few weeks and see if a Cooshee magically becomes available on Amazon UK. The colors match our decor a lot better. Last time I was antsy about something, they ended up having the version I wanted a few weeks after.

@looch: Does yours clean-up easy? Does it get cold during winter?

@MegWag: Same questions, does it clean up easy and does the surface get cold?

To me, it was worth it, originally, we were going to make do with the inflatable mat from IKEA, but I am so glad we just bucked up and got the Hoppop. We use it multiple times a day and it has a good resale value because it's solid surface!

@Crumbs: yeah, shipping can be a killer.

Can you get one of the cheapo pads and buy a cover for it that will help with the sharp edges? Means extra washing though.

I really, really wish that US firms got their act together with shipping. i.e they shipped to other countries, at a reasonable rate. Shipping UK - Australia is usually free or minimal. USA - Australia usually starts at $50. end rant.

@looch: Ouch! £55

@MegWag: £47 + shipping.

Thanks ladies, both look great! But I can't seem to justify spending $85+ on a changing pad, although it's about the same price as the ones they sell locally.

@Crumbs: I got in touch with BabySmart because I wanted a Cooshee Changing Mat badly, but they don't have anything like them in the UK. They put me in touch with their distributor in the Czech Republic and he sold me one!

@regberadaisy: Amazon ships to EU but I'd be paying more for shipping than the actual item, plus I risk customs adding an extra charge on it, meaning if I'm unlucky, I'll end up paying over $100 for a $25 item =( It's the same with Overstock.

There's Amazon UK that ships free to me, but they don't have the same items.

I've spent way too much time looking for a contoured, soft changing pad that's not super short or in cheap plastic with sharp edges. I'm looking for a standard changing pad you can find just about anywhere in the States. 32" x 16" (or 81 x 41 cm).

I can't seem to find anyone in Europe that sells one. The only contoured ones I found are too short, the longest at 26", but it's thin and not fully contoured. The long ones are all in cheap plastic over light foam.

If you're in Europe, can you recommend an alternative or a place that sells one?

Thanks so much!
