OT helped our biter so much. He was identified as a proprioceptive seeker and had OT through EI at daycare to work through it. His therapist did a lot of physical stuff like obstacle courses, deep massage, joint compressions, and heavy lifting. It made a world of difference. We also sent crunchy snacks (veggie straws) and tried to get in heavy work in the mornings before daycare (carrying heavy stuff, playing with cold play-doh, etc.) It truly made a world of difference and it changed daycare’s perspective of the biting from behavioral to sensory and that calmed everyone down too. My daughter went through a biting stage around 22-23 months where she was biting kids at daycare almost every day, sometimes multiple times a day. We got that book and started reading it 1-2 times/day, and her biting drastically slowed down immediately and stopped within 2 weeks. It's a cute, simple book. He only bit his best friend which was awkward and I dreaded pick-up. We just were consistent with how it was handled (as was school) and it eventually passed. I also recently started to not let him have his Bun Bun (lovey) if he ia upset after saying No bun bun does like bites, he likes kisses.</p> <p>I actually cried dropping him off today Judy praying he has a good day!</p> <p>He is my sweet boy and such a love bug and I hate thinking he is a biter and others might not see him that way. </p>
