Like others, I have never heard of Westley. Both Wesley and Brody are great - you can't go wrong!

My son's name is Brady so obviously I love it. Who cares if people think it's after Tom Brady?!

We have the same issue with a unique last name starting with an S. With our second I just couldn't get on board with a first name I LOVED ending with an S. So while I love the name Wes, I really think it depends on your last name. Like with Smith or Sullivan, no big deal, but if there's any chance it would make your last name more confusing I'd give it more thought.
Right now we are expecting our third and so far the only name we both love ends with X, which is really tough with our last name. I have about 5 months to decide if I care!

I LOVE the name Wes! I don't know any Westleys, so I would always assume it was Wesley. I much prefer it to Brody!

I don't like Wesley personally. I do like Brady or Brody. I agree that the Tom Brady effect won't last but I can see how your DH would be hesitant to use it.

Other names within that same feel to me are: Cason, Logan, Brant. Hope that helps!

As a fellow Pats fan, if someone in NE named a kid Brady, I would definitely assume it was a nod to Tom. I like Wesley! And I don't think the S last name is an issue.

@RonjaL7: If you like the name Brady but not Brody (I am with you on this), how about Grady or Bradley or Braden or Brendan (Brendan has the potential to be misspelled as Brandon, though).

FWIW I like Wesley more than Brody and the "s" in Wes and your last name may run together a bit but it's probably not a big deal.

I like Brady more than Wesley, and Wesley more than Brody... but I also live in Massachusetts. For what it's worth, Tom Brady's already 38 and can't play football forever... by the time your little guy is an adult, it'd be a non-issue, I think.

Maybe autocorrect did that because it is a proper noun? I like Wesley more than Brody.

I have a last name the started with S and son named Wes - I've never noticed a problem with pronouncing it. People also tend to assume that Wes is short for Wesley (although some people do ask if I said Wes or West)

I really like Wesley, I would never even think to write it Westley TBH

as long as you wouldn't have an "S' middle name I think Wes with a "S" last name should sound fine

as far as Brody, you can also spell Brodie :) but Wesley is my favorite

I agree with your husband about Brady- if I met him here in New England I would assume you are patriots fans. As for Wesley, I would assume that spelling and have never heard of westley. I personally like it better than Brody but it's not my kid! Names are hard!

I don't think Wes and then last name that starts with an s is hard to pronounce. Wesley is a cute name. 2 of my friends have named their son that name in the past couple of months. Weston is another option too!

So I have a rare (in the US) and hard to pronounce name due to it's spelling. Therefore, one of my criteria for baby names is that it is rarely mispronounced and easy to spell. For example, my daughter's name is Rose.

We are moments away from having a son, and have not agreed on a name. My favorite name is Brady, which my husband won't go for because we live in New England and he thinks everyone will think it is for Tom Brady (it wasn't, but he has a point). So he came up with Brody, which I like but not as much as Brady. But seeing how he won't cave, Brody ended up on the short list.

Now one of the other names I'm having a time with is his #1 pick... Wesley. For starters I feel like people won't know if it is Wesley or Westley. Interesting enough Westley came up on my spell checker while typing as incorrect, but Wesley did not. That alone may have helped me.

Also, we wouldn't call him Wesley very often and would most likely use Wes. However our last name starts with an "S". Would that be super hard to say?

Help....
