@Mrs D: Nope! I know it sucks, but unless you want a new type of paint/wallpaper everyday from food bits, gotta do, what you gotta do mama!

This happens to us the majority of the time. Often if I just let her see I've got food ready on the spoon but wait, she'll stop flailing and just open her mouth! Other times, yeah, I pin it down gently.

@Alivoo01: Ok so I am not bad for pinning her arms down? I felt so guilty doing it! :(

DS went through a phase like this. I pin his hands down with one of my hands while feeding him with the other. He quit doing that. He only flails his arms around now if he's full and done eating.

@hilsy85: Yes - she is hitting the spoon containing her food - which splatters it all around. I have tried giving her a big slice of apple or something to "distract" her from the flailing but it doesn't seem to work. You would honestly think it is a "I dont want this Mom" move when she does it but then the minute her hands are restrained she happily eats it.

Are the flailing hands causing a problem? like scattering food around? If not, I would just leave it! Or maybe try giving her a spoon to hold while you feed her.

So...LO has started eating some solid finger foods lately and I have noticed now when I feed her her puree/cereal meals she is constantly flailing her hands. Its not that she is not hungry because if I hold her hands still she will happily eat a bit.

I dont know if she is unaware of what she is doing? Or so excited to be eating she cant control it? I have tried locking the highschair tray so that her arms are contained but our highchair does not allow for that (it doesn't get close enough - she can wiggle them out).

Thoughts?!
