I think our nursery is even smaller but other than the entry door being on the opposite side we have the exact same layout. We finished the area between the closets with a bench and toy box.

@MrsBananaGrabber: Your window alcove is 46" wide and 28" deep. Using Land of Nod's Toby as an example a glider is 30" wide and 35" deep. Your glider would likely poke out of the alcove a bit, but you should still have enough space for a narrow side table. Have you created furniture to play around with layout in your room plan?

@Mrs. Lion: The window sill isn't huge, but it's probably enough for little baby fingers.

@MrsBananaGrabber: I was going to suggest putting the glider and a bookshelf in the nook by the window, just like @yellowbird. Then I'd put the crib on the 8'10" wall and a long dresser on the 9'10" wall. Shelves with toys on the 6'10" wall.

@MrsBananaGrabber: Is there a window sill that he/she could pull up on to look outside? If so I would definitely not put furniture there and leave it open for playing! :)

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Yup, it's nice and big and lets in lots of light :) The nice thing about it is that we could one day put a bean bag or something in that corner and a small kid could easily still see out the window from there.

@MrsBananaGrabber: ugh, I have low windows too. I guess one way of looking at is that if your window is low it must also be large?!

I'm not sure of the dimensions of our nook. I'll have to check!

I think with 3 feet across you should be able to get a chair in there probably caddy cornered and maybe a bookshelf on one of the 2'4 walls

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I LOVE the built-in bench / reading nook idea, but the window is too low to the ground for that to work. We could put some sort of seat in front of it, but anything built in would be less than a foot high.

Dresser on 9'10 wall
Crib across from it on 8'10 wall
Glider in corner of 6'10 & 8'10 wall
Bookshelf/ Toy storage/ Kid size table & chairs on 6'10 wall

Window wall- I'd create either a built in desk or built in bench storage

@yellowbird: I love the way you did the reading nook! Do you know how big that nook is? I'd like to do something like that, but I don't know that the nook is big enough.

I'd put dresser on 9'10 wall and crib on the wall across from it. Glider in the top right corner. This is essentially the layout of our teeny nursery and it works well for us!

I agree with @BadgerMom. Our dds room looks sort if like this and we made the little space with the window into a reading nook. She has another small nook in her room where her crib is, but it's pretty much the same!

Here's her unfinished reading nook. I want to get 1-2 bookshelves and move the chair a bit and get rid of the table

I'd probably put your dresser on the long wall as you come in since that isn't as deep as the crib. I'd put the crib on either the 6'10" or 8'10" wall probably off center towards the corner so it doesn't feel overpowering in the room. And id put the glider with a side table and maybe a floor lamp in the nook. Try floorplanner.com you can put in your measurements and play with all the shapes.

@yellowbird: Great question :) I just edited to add that there is 1 window, between the two closets on the wall that is on the bottom of the drawing.

I think I would put the glider in the top right corner with a nightstand beside it on the top wall, put the crib on the right wall, the dresser/changing table on the left, and put a rug on the floor a low shelf in your little cubby hole between the closets with as a play area. I would add a child safe mirror in there too at the floor level :)

I could really use some help with our nursery layout. We're not due until August, so there's lots of time to think about it, but I like to plan early :)

The room is a bit of an awkward shape because there are closets taking up 2 of the corners. We haven't bought any furniture yet, but the crib we like is 58.5" x 29.5" (about 5 feet by 2.5 feet.) We're also planning to get a dresser (with a changing pad on top, so it can't be too small) and a glider (maybe with a foot rest, maybe a nightstand too.) Any ideas would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks!

ETA: The only window in the room is between the 2 closets, on the wall that is 3'10 across from the entry door.
