I also recommend the OPK's - get the smiley face ones - they are definitely the best (and unfortunately the most expensive)

But this will help you determine your O date - the first few months we were trying it turned out I was like a week & a half off!

good luck!

I've never tried the tests, but it sounds like a good idea. I would also recommend charting other symptoms, even if you can't chart temps. So just make notes like when you have more CM, headaches, cramps, sore boobs, etc. You may find a pattern that you wouldn't have put together without seeing it in one place, especially if you combine it with the OPKs.

I third buying the tests, especially if you can't take your temps. It'll give you more insight into what's going on.

I have really long cycles as well, and was just diagnosed with PCOS. For me, OPKs were helpful, because otherwise I wouldn't have known if I were ovulating or not. The only problem is that they cost a fortune because I used so many of them. Even buying in bulk, you still might go through 20 - 30 tests per cycle, so keep that in mind.
There are places to find them cheap online - I would recommend trying them for a month or two. You'll either love them or get extremely frustrated with them!

Ok, thank you. I will look again at my chart and see if I can figure out when I would be 7 DPO lol. I am so new to all of this :\

@anonysquire: Yeah that's unfortunate with the temping! So I think they usually test for progesterone in your blood at 7 DPO, so if you plan to go 7 days after you think you've ovulated, it should give you some valuable information!! I would definitely want more testing before going on clomid.

If I have signs of ovulation I have never noticed. My chart says I will ovulate July 30th so I will for sure look for signs and EWCM. I need to make another appointment to go to the doctor and I will ask to get my blood tested. Thank you! And I would love to temp but half the week I work graveyards and the other half of the week I sleep whenever I can. So I am not always home or sleeping at the same time.

It's possible you're not ovulating. Temping is the only real way to confirm ovulation, but the test strips might help. If you BD every other day around ovulation you will definitely cover your bases though! I would ask for some bloodwork to see if you're ovulating. Do you get any EWCM? Do you have any signs of ovulation? For example, my boobs always get sore right after I ovulate.

Ok, if anyone could help that would be great :) I am such a newb so if I ask anything stupid, don't judge!

Ok so I have really long cycles: 45 days, 50 days, 46 days... My doctor said I possibly have PCOS and he will put me on Clomid if I want to. I have been charting my periods on fertility friend and it says I will ovulate september 10th if my periods continue doing what they do. I can't chart temps because I wake up different times everyday. Should I buy those ovulation strips you dip in urine? If I have sex every other day for like the 2 weeks around ovulation do you think that will help? Any help at all would be so appreciated!!!
