update: He did not get seen. He "rode" it out (according to him). My 5 year old daughter started running a fever, couple of days later and complained of sore throat. I took her into doctor and she tested positive for the flu  (Could be from my husband...could be from school too as there were several cases). In any case, I'm now taking Tamiflu :meh:

@misolee: Exactly what @lilyofthewest: said. You're describing symptoms of the flu and he needed to be seen to get tamiflu (it's probably too late now). I'd be livid if I were you. Risking the health of his two kids and PREGNANT wife. It's not about him.

I was SO sick this weekend and basically life went on for me. Solo'd my two kids for a majority of both days. Didn't get to nap at all. So I have zero sympathy too :silly:

Sorry. :( When I was like 7 months pregnant with lo3 my Dh had a cold which turned into pneumonia, a 5 day hospital stay, followed by weeks more off his feet. Then the last 2-3 weeks of my pregnancy Dh was at work most of the time and he was the only one who didn't get this nasty cold that my kids got (including 102+ fever but tested negative for flu.) Between that and the wildfires around here I was so scared of lo3 being born! I went from "get Lo OUT!!" to "baby please stay in another week!" I was totally stressed out by the end (and having a lot of contractions and carrying very very low) but nothing to do but wait and see. Try to be lazy when you can especially if you're having contractions, let the kids watch tv and order pizza and feel absolutely no guilt! Maybe if your Dh is away from the rest of you for a couple days he won't spread his germs and overall it'll be shorter lived.
Also it drives me crazy when Dh says I'm being too germaphobic (and the past couple years I really haven't been bad at all though I used to be) and I "shouldn't worry about it" (regarding spreading germs and taking precautions, vitamins, etc.) but then when sickness hits I am the one to deal with it. You totally have my sympathy right now!!

If he has actual influenza you and baby are at risk. He needs to get seen TODAY when antivirals are still useful. If he has confirmed flu you will also need them ASAP. If he won't listen to you, this is worth a call to the OB's after hours line so someone else can boss him. Flu can be deadly for pregnant women and neonates.

FWIW though, wearing coats/blankets (or not) won't cause illness and a cold can't turn into the flu.

@sweetcaroline yes. He knows how I feel. I also explained to him that if I went into labor right now, he would not be allowed in the room bc of his illness so he needs to try to find a way to get better.

@jhd @portboston thanks for understanding! Baby does need to stay put and other kids needs to stay healthy. He did sort of quarantine himself to the extra bedroom. Which I support but the kids love playing with him and it’s hard to keep them away. Lots of hand washing!

@shootingstar I tried telling him to go to urgent care but he refuses. He could have the flu for all we know. He has high fever, body ache and chills, and a cough. And I think he does things to warrant lower immune system.

My DH definitely gets mancold sometimes. To the point where he had the flu and I didn’t really believe him. I also got really annoyed that he didn’t try to do anything to deal with it until I pushed him too. So our entire family of four went to urgent care a few weeks ago when he could’ve gone during the day by himself or with me because I was working at home.

But...you can’t get sick because you don’t wear a coat. You also can’t have a cold turn into the flu.

I’m sorry. I’m a few weeks behind you and did experience some panic last week when my DH was sick. Thankfully LO and I did not catch it. We did everything we could to make life easy cereal, canned soup, or take out to eat. LO had a few too many happy meals. ;)

Don't be sorry for the vent...I'm glad you got it out. Honestly though, this would warrant a freak out in my house. Are you just sucking it up or have you told him everything you just told us? I sometimes just have to lay my feelings out there, rational or irrational (yours all seem rational!) To start the conversation.

My husband came down with a cold. To be fair, he has a fever but the world is ending to him. Although I'm sorry he's sick, I have zero sympathy for him bc with the rampant flu season and everything you hear about it, I feel like he just welcomed the cold with open arms. For example, he never wears a jacket bc he says he's not cold. He goes to sleep really late doing unnecessary stuff. He always falls asleep on the floor of the nursery or the couch when he can get up and walk to the bed. When I try to give him a blanket, he says its too scratchy or he doesn't like the static electricity (seriously a child). I finally got him to start taking some Tylenol...the directions and the way it's packaged is in two pills. He's been taking one bc he says one is all he needs (seriously).

Normally, it's annoying and I just ignore his stupidity but I'm 35 weeks pregnant with our 3rd child and I do not have the patience or the energy to deal with a manchild. I'm also scared that it will turn into the flu and get the kids sick bc of course he's the only one of us without a flu shot. Not to mention I had LO2 at 37 weeks and I feel like this one will come early too. My biggest fear is he'll still be sick and I'll end up delivering alone.

Sorry for the vent. :meh:
