@LulaBee: Thank you! I barely tested positive for a clotting disorder but have had 2 early miscarriages so they are doing this to cover the bases. If it gets a baby here healthy, I'm willing to do it!

The anticipation will be the hardest part for me too. I hate needles!

I had Lovenox for my last pregnancy- from 6 weeks until I switched to Heparin a few weeks before delivery. Lovenox for 8 weeks post partum.

My husband gave me the shots (and my 3 year old at the time was really into "helping"). I am very squeamish and couldn't really even look.

They stung/burned a bit each time but you get used to it. Honestly the anticipation of the burn was worse for me.

It wasn't pleasant but I know for a fact it helped get my daughter here safely so would do it again in a heartbeat.

You've got this, mama!! HUGS!

ETA- I have a blood clotting disorder- not sure what it is- but had a miscarriage and a stillbirth prior to my last (successful with Lovenox) pregnancy.

I had it after I delivered. The injections were really painful! :-(

1.) I have Factor V Leiden mutation.
2.) The shots were a little painful. I would say they didn't hurt much going in, but the spot burned for a couple minutes afterward. I got used to it, though. I gave them to myself, one injection in the stomach each evening.
3.) I started Lovenox at 6 weeks and continued it until 36 weeks, at which point I switched to Heparin until delivery. Heparin has a shorter half-life so it's safer if you've had it close to when you go into labor, but it was 2 shots a day instead of 1. I went back to Lovenox for the 6 weeks following delivery.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

I'd like to hear from those of you that have been on Heparin or Lovenox throughout a pregnancy.

1) Why were you on it?
2) Were the shots painful? Did you give them to yourself or did someone else do it?
3) Were you on it until delivery or did you stop prior to birth?
