Lovenox for 8 weeks post partum.</p> <p>My husband gave me the shots (and my 3 year old at the time was really into "helping"). I am very squeamish and couldn't really even look. </p> <p>They stung/burned a bit each time but you get used to it. Honestly the anticipation of the burn was worse for me. </p> <p>It wasn't pleasant but I know for a fact it helped get my daughter here safely so would do it again in a heartbeat.</p> <p>You've got this, mama!! I have Factor V Leiden mutation.<br /> 2.) The shots were a little painful. I would say they didn't hurt much going in, but the spot burned for a couple minutes afterward. I got used to it, though. I gave them to myself, one injection in the stomach each evening.<br /> 3.) I started Lovenox at 6 weeks and continued it until 36 weeks, at which point I switched to Heparin until delivery. Heparin has a shorter half-life so it's safer if you've had it close to when you go into labor, but it was 2 shots a day instead of 1.
