I put ice cubes in a mesh feeder. It was messy, but I think the cool felt good on his sores, and I knew he was getting some hydration. Otherwise, I just kept offering him water or milk. The ped told me that as long as he was peeing a few times a day, not to worry about hw much he was eating.

Hope he recovers soon. HFM is the pits.

I mixed pudding with purées. I though yogurt might be too acidic. Also, slow melt Popsicles.

I'm sorry to hear that your LO is sick. When my Lo had HFM, he had sores on his tongue and didn't want to eat or drink either. I was so concerned about the sores on his tongue that I neglected the fact that he wasn't urinating as much and hadn't pooped in five days. I administered an enema and he was able to poop in less than five minutes. After he was done, he told me, "I feel so much better." I cried. He was so dehydrated that he couldn't poop. I felt so awful! Hope your LO gets better fast!

DD hardly ate anything when she had HFM. I figured in keeping her hydrated and tried to not stress when she wouldn't eat.
I made her yogurt smoothies to get nutrients and calories in. I think the cool smoothies felt better than "real" food on the way down.

Hope your LO is feeling better soon. HFM is so awful.

As long as she's drinking something, she should be fine. When LO had a particularly bad case of HFM back in May, the doc said not to worry about food as long as he was drinking. It sounds strange, but the only thing he would drink for a few days was milk. I think maybe it soothed the sores.

It shouldn't last too long. LO and I both has HFM this summer. My throat hurt so badly I couldn't eat for two days. Luckily it clears up pretty fast. She'll feel better soon!

I was just at the Dr's today. I got a phone call from daycare saying Lo had a fever of 101.5F. She hasn't been eating much either and the doc said it will be fine. As long as she's drinking and staying hydrated. If there are things that you know she really loves you could try to tempt her into eating. I know it's hard when they aren't feeling good. My DD has had chicken noodle soup for three days solid, with lots of saltines because that's all she'll take.

LO has a sore on her palate, and she won't eat or drink. Since 9 am, she has probably had 3 oz of a bottle plus one long nursing session and half a cup of applesauce. What can I do? :( she is also teething something fierce.
