@Rockies11: @MrsH: yeah, I got rid of my gym membership last year. I just didn't have time to go to the gym with my work hours. Everytime I'm out of breath, I think it's because I'm out of shape. I try to remember that it's a known pregnancy symptom.

@MrsH: oh I should add - I have had two HG babies, and despite totally horribly bad diet and sometimes weeks without any food intake to speak of, LO #1 was 6lbs 1oz, and LO#2 was 8lbs 3oz, so the lack of food had no impact on baby. I, on the other hand, was not in good shape, especially after the second one.

I was told at my 16 week u/s that I was suppose to gain 20 lbs by 20 weeks. I had a 18 week u/s and nothing was said about my lack of weight gain. I think I was 3-5 lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight.

By 20 weeks, I was only 6 lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight. Though, OB said I was closer to 10 lbs over. They might have used a weight during my HG where I was 8 lbs under my pre-pregnancy weight.

Anyway, I asked my OB at 20 week appt and she said she wasn't worried. She said both babies are doing well. I was so relieved to hear that because I was concerned I was hurting my babies by not gaining weight and still having nausea. On good days, I try to eat a little more but those bad days usually sets me back.

No, she said the baby will get what she needs. That being said, my baby was only 5lb 14oz, but still healthy and ready for action!!

I didn't gain weight at all until 20 weeks, then went up 10 pounds, relapsed at 28 weeks and lost it all, then from 30 weeks onwards, I gained steadily. They do do a couple of extra ultrasounds in the third tri to make sure growth is on track at my OB's office. I had one at 32 and one at 36 weeks.

For ladies who have gone through a pregnancy with hyperemesis gravidarum, was your OB ever concerned with lack of weight gain?

I'm 34 weeks and weigh the same as I did at conception. I've had some weight fluctuation in there with losing weight from bad weeks/months and then gaining on good weeks but overall haven't gained any. At my last checkup she mentioned that I hadn't gained any weight over the last month and that this is the point where a half pound weight gain a week is typical. She doesn't seem concerned about the growth of the baby.

Just wondering what you all experienced/if your Drs were concerned.
