I'm an academic in a dual career household, and the pull of teaching, research, grant proposals, supporting student research... plus parenting and supporting my husband. It's all just too much. There have been some really low times. I don't think there are any good answers to these conundrums, but it sounds like you are trying to put some time into taking care of yourself and your needs, which is first and foremost the most important thing to do. (How easy it is to forget that though!) I would be lying if I said it had no influence on me wanting to get pregnant in the first place.</p> <p>DH and I also make an effort to put our phones/laptop away when we're home. I joke that I only check my phone when DH and I are apart and it's true since I once went a whole weekend missing my friend's baby announcement. She even called me to ask for help shortly after the baby arrived and I didn't see her voicemail until Monday!
