<p>a couple times every week for the past month or so, i've been feeling baby owl make these very rhythmic, gently jolting movements for around five to ten minutes at a time. at first i thought, "is that her heartbeat? it can't seriously be her heartbeat...it's too slow, and why would i feel her heartbeat some times and not at others?" and then i thought, "are those kicks? they don't feel like kicks--they have too much of a set rhythm, and besides, they aren't coming from where i know her feet are." then, "is she somehow punching me rhythmically, over and over, trying to get my attention? like, knocking on my tummy like it's a door? babies can't do that, can they?? is she some sort of baby genius trying to send me a message in morse code???" then, today, as i was laying down and feeling these movements again and seriously stressing about what they could be and whether or not something was wrong, it hit me--baby owl is fine. she just has the hiccups. ♥
