Personally I looove parties. I could talk to strangers for hours. Hubs HATES it. He does the same thing as @Jumpingjacks: where he thinks up questions to ask people in advance. It helps him out. I dislike large social functions and having to do "small talk". There's also certain occasions where I don't particularly like the company and LO makes it a million times more manageable!!! </p> <p>I was never used to dealing with ppl I disliked before and I can't suddenly pretend their my BFF, so I'd rather sit by myself. If said ppl ever had an adults only function, I would completely dread going ... I've adapted by becoming a question-asker. It helps when I'm trying to start a conversation. In advance of the function I think through questions I can ask people about themselves or about what they think about current events etc. People generally like to talk about themselves, so it usually works. It also helps to be prepared with an answer for yourself in case they throw the same question back at you. </p> <p>Another strategy of mine: Look for the other quiet person sitting by themselves and try talking to them.
